oii, my friend dropped my dslr canon xti last night. It turns on and off. It's sort of cracked open. I'm sure it's a quick fix but does anyone happen to know any economic camera repair places in LA?

I wanna get a tinymicro leica digital - i saw one somewhere with a wide angle for a resonably elcheapo price i think it was lika 200 dollahs. I refuse to carry around my 20d anymore in fact it never leaves the fotostudio unless it's for a job.

u said the just the outer casing is cracked right?
if all the mechanisms work fine, then i believe it should be a cheap fix.
i don't know too many camera shops but i do know that canoga camera in the valley is a pretty legit place. i've been going there for years and have had cameras with fucked up mechanisms fixed there for not too bad of a price.
i'm not sure of other shops though.
i think it's best to call around and see what they all say.

I've got an ancient D70s but it's still working out OK.
Got some cash for my Bday to put towards gear. Should I get the 70-300 VR 4.5-5.6 telephoto/zoom or the LensBaby composer? Any opinions... ?

i have a 10d that i dont use as much as i should anymore.
i have an ancient nikkormat and a few mamiya and minolta slrs for sale. if anyone is interested i can post prices.

You've got 2 options.
a) Go to Canon in Irvine and get it fixed for about $160. It's the factory repair center.
or
b) See what you can get through Canon's customer loyalty program. For about the same price you can upgrade to a newer model. For a couple hundred more you can get a 50D. Program is through Canon, give them a call.

And a shitload of other peripherals, none of which I can utilize to its fullest potential. I'm not that good at all, just been lucky that I could afford decent glass. List of wants 5D Mkll or 7D, a shitload of primes.

NICE SETUP! All I have is the 24-70mm 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 IS I really want the 16-35mm 2.8!

The 17 - 40 is a good alternative. Sigma has a good equivalent too, but I like Canon glass. You know how it is.

I used to have the 17-40 and it was amazing but I'm a huge fan of 2.8. I have already shot with the 16-35 on my 5DM2 and was absolutely blown away...

Is that 16-35 a Full Frame lens? I use the Nikon 17-35 f/2.8 lens with an adapter on my 5D but it vignettes a little on the 17
