KTOWN- Ride Back From Long Beach on the Metro???? BOOOOOOO I say we ride the river trail back!!!
reply
Eh, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a contingent planning to bike the whole round trip, but riding 25 miles back on a belly full o' food and beer sounds like masochism to me.

Which is to say, the desirability of continuing the forge will just depend on the nature and volume of gorging that takes place. And doesn't the Forge'n'Gorge have its own
thread already?

Does anyone have a route to the trail from LA?

I think the route has been scouted. In the discussion on LAfixed, it sounds like there is some enthusiasm for a place called Hole Mole. I don't have any knowledge of the specifics for route or food, though...

The route to the start of the bike trail has been posted on here before. You'll have to do a search for it cause I don't have it handy. Hole Mole sounds like the best place to go and it's on 4th street. 4th street is kind of a hip little street with some cool dive bars and independent coffee shops. Plenty of hipsters on 4th!
Too bad you guys arent coming on Tuesday. They got buck tacos. Their fish tacos are the shit.

Dang, I want to join you guys. I will be at a meeting in Long Beach, but I'll try to find you on the path afterward.
Please post where you are going to end up eating at.
Meanwhile, her is how to get to Long Beach from Union Station:
Left onto Alameda from the front of Union Station
Left on 2nd Street, go a short distance
Right on Santa Fe, go about 3 miles
Left on Pacific, Pacific curves to the right, go1/2 mile
Left on Leonis, go about 2 miles
Leonis at some point becomes District
Cross Atlantic and then some RR tracks
Left onto the L.A. River bike path, right after Atlantic
Right on bike path (you can’t go left very far)
Go about 5 miles to Imperial Hwy. It is important that you cross Imperial and pick up the path on the east side of the river here. Just before Imperial, you will go under the 710 freeway and notice the convergence of the Rio Hondo River into the L.A. River. Imperial is the next under pass. Go under Imperial, then make a U turn onto the sidewalk and cross the bridge and enter the bike path on the east side of the river. Continue on the bike path another 12 miles until it ends at the Long Beach shore line.

Yes! We are riding to Long Beach this week. (The route is taken care of, thanks fellas.) As far as riding back -- do it!
We should have the rest of the details sorted out by tomorrow, as far as where to eat and what to do. I've been talking to some LB peeps about what to do once we get down there, and there are a few ideas.
yay!
