Very hard to miss, not too many like it.
If the perp is ignorant enough to have actually gotten someone to ride it around, the resulting recovery operation would be like candy from a baby.

This is un fucking believable, it's actually not easy to get it out of where it was kept, you need two people to shimmy it out. This happened sometime between 6 and 10pm tonight, Monday, April 27, 2009.
It's big, blue, no longer has headlamps on the front, otherwise it looks just like the above pictures. The model is a Ciclofan Delfini, but we all know it as the CrankMobile....
I am truly sad, it brought the F.U.N. wherever it went. I wish unending bad karma on those that did this.

It was not locked, it has a bad front drum brake, it takes the manpower of two to get it through my apt bldgs fence. It was basically being used a bike rack, other bikes are usually locked up to it, making it virtually impossible to take out of the yard, unless it's lifted 4 ft into the air, over the fence.
But today, there were no other bikes locked up to it... Opportunistic bastards.

Pretty sure it's not a prank, there is a bike locked up next to a tree a few feet away outside of my fence, and it's clear they attempted to cut that cable lock and failed.

oh, a sting is in the works. there will actually be regular "Neighborhood Watch" style rides coming up in Santa Monica and Venice. Meet up on the weekend, scour the streets looking for suspicious folks, catch a thief or two, get some Bravo or Abbott's Pizza afterwards.

File the Police Report, Contact Vons on Centinela, Watch the video tape footage to see if you recognize the person who stole it. Take Police to suspects house and arrest them, then recover the CrankMoblie!!!!!

It's definitely mine, a friend has confirmed this. Saw a couple of dudes w/ chicks in the back joyriding it. Def our bikecar, black side view mirror, no headlamps, airhorn on the left hand side. I still can't believe he let them ride away. I will post more details later, but for now there's a new policy in effect.

Has this been reported stolen to the cops in the Venice/mar vista area? These idiots are going to get busted *really* soon.. Friday night will probably be prime bike car thief catching time.. I'll probably be in the Venice area Friday night, will keep a look out for it.

based on the visual accounts in the last few days. the suspect is a white male in his 20s and he most likely lives on or near Victoria Av, between lincoln and Centinela. Keep your eyes peeled and gimme a call if you see anything!

Left a photo of the bikecar w/ the LAPD Pacific Division, they're down the block from where the bikecar was spotted three times. They said it's SMPD's job to track it down.
So, thanks to my buddy that ran into them, I have two real names and numbers, Kevin (main suspect), and Illiana (seen riding in the back of the bikecar). All SMPD has to do now is get up off their fat asses and run a reverse lookup and pay these suckas a visit.
I wanna ride along w/ the coppers when they go scoop'em up, stick my head out the window, and yell over the loudspeaker:
"Surrender Bike Car or Die!"

I hope to be reunited with it soon. There's a small possibility that the people seen riding it purchased it the day after it was stolen. But that's kinda fishy, just seems too unlikely. There's an SMPD Detective handling my case, I'm feeding him whatever information I got from you guys, from Craigslist, firsthand, etc. The noose is definitely tightening.
Bike car will be back, no doubt about it. The question remains whether the actual thief will be caught.
