2 bikes stolen!!

1 Grey Trek 5000 carbon fiber with Shimano Ultegra/105 mixed gruppo (105 everywhere but Ultegra derailleurs and Bontrager cranks). Shimano SPD pedals and brand spanking new red tires. Also has a tool bag under the seat with a couple of tubes and a folding tool.
1 Black GT XCR2000 Fulls supension mountain bike with road slicks (Almira's bike). It is shimano LX componentry with a Marzocchi Bomber front fork with 20mm quick release axle. Pedals and toe clips on that one.
They were both stolen from my front yard sometime today between 11:30 and 6:15pm. Regrettably, we took the dogs to the park and apparently neglected to lock the gate or else the thieves were able to unlock it.
Please keep an eye out for either of them.

The mountain bike, by the way, has tons of little silver hearts painted on the top tube which aren't nearly as easy to remove as you'd think. It dates from 1998 or 1999 but was in absolutely perfect condition. 8 speed drivetrain with rapidfire shifters.
The road bike has dura ace hubs laced to Mavic open pro rims (3 cross) and some nice aftermarket handlebars with flat tops. It is also 3x9 speed ultegra rather than a double chainring. It is only a couple of years old and was also in perfect working order. It is my daily commuter and I'd really like it back. The other bike is no huge loss, since it was 10 years old.
I'll pay out $100 reward for either bike and will pay $200 if I recover them both. No questions asked if they are just left in my driveway by my motorcycles.

I suppose I should mention that they were stolen from West Hollywood, though they could be anywhere by now

Here's the road bike (the seat is installed level and it has red tires, now):
Here's the mountain bike:
It has slicks on it now, and lots of little hearts on the top tube, in silver.

The road bike has a pump instead of a bottle cage on the down tube and a bottle cage on the seat tube. The pump is one of those nice mini-floor pump types with the built in pressure gauge.

I should mention that I highly doubt these were professional thieves, since they left a fixie and a very nice folding bike behind. My guess is a couple of fuckheads were wandering down the street and decided to try their luck with my gate, found it unlocked, and rode off on a bike each, so I am hopeful they'll be wandering around Hollywood or WeHo and someone can spot them.

yeah, this is very unfortunate, my 2 bikes were stolen from my parking garage last week. check to see if you have homeowners insurance. Sometimes, you can get half on each bike as long as you have reciepts of purchase and a police report. Good luck and sorry to hear

I'm betting that none of the bikes mentioned above were locked.

But this isn't a thread about preventing bike theft, so I don't really see how it matters.

And if you do decide to return them, I take back what I said about no questions asked, so you'd better return 'em anonymously. If I find the person who did it, I will personally frog march your ass to the nearest cop, using whatever violence necessary to do so, and I'll enjoy it, too.

So sorry to hear this Sam. I rode by your place last night on my way home and it's sad that this could happen in such a nice neighborhood.
I had three bikes stolen from me when I was a kid, one was my dad's very nice Bridgestone road bike!
