This really is troublesome news.
Bicyclist Shoots, Kills Man In Hyde Park
Police Say Victim Was Able To Name His Killer Before Dying
LOS ANGELES Police say that a man who was shot and killed last night in Hyde Park was able to identify his attacker before dying.
The gunman was on a bicycle, police added.
The slaying a 65th Street and Western Avenue was reported at 7:05 p.m., according to Lt. Christian Hansen of the 77th Street Station.
The victim, whose name was withheld, died about an hour later at
California Hospital Medical Center, Hansen said.
Hansen declined to elaborate, but no immediate arrests were reported.

thought you were talking about Hype Park in London, UK.....that would have given the US LAPD some serious jurisdiction!!!

These kind of articles pop up on here from time to time. Other than the semi-tangential evidence that the shooter was on a bike, it's really not all that relevant, all it maybe says is that gas is expensive, and even the thugs who shoot people who know who they are are opting to ride bikes (which also have less identifying marks, which would have helped the guy get away if the victim hadn't personally known who it was and was able to identify before he died) are using bikes because gas is cheaper.
It sucks that people have to be so ignorant and think that killing another person, particularly one in probably the same class and social situation, will actually solve anything. It sucks that it happened and I feel for the family and friends of the victim, but what does it matter in a cycling sense?

Suzzbeast,
I understand. I'm just afraid that it might get to the point where cops and non cyclists are going to begin assuming all people on bikes are dangerous potential killers.

I say we all go into a busy bank with ski masks and wait in line. Unless of course, that's illegal!
Sounds like Cacophony Society to me!

Since no one yet assumes everyone in a car is on their way to or from a drive by shooting, until there are more ride by shootings than drive by shootings, I don't think we have to worry about the assumption that all cyclists are out to smoke someone.

Ride by shootings have been common in LA for as long as I can remember. But thanks for the "update," Borf.

Yeah I know. There's nothing to be done about this. I just wanted to bring this up and complain.
The gang violence thing IS getting worse lately.
Brassknuckle was jumped last week by two guys on bikes in Silverlake.
Fortunately he didn't get hurt. I'm in agreement of us to start carrying mace.
Why we gotta be fighting each other? Get a grip.
