The FDA is calling four loko(and other energy/alcohol drinks..."public health concern".
That's seems extremely lame to me!!
Don't they know cigarettes cause DEATH, too!

Washington (CNN) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration told the manufacturers of seven caffeinated alcoholic beverages Wednesday that their drinks are a "public health concern" and can't stay on the market in their current form.
The move follows a year-long review by the FDA, which gave the companies 15 days to either reformulate their products or face possible seizure under federal law, said Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, the agency's principal deputy commissioner. Experts have said the caffeine used in the beverages can mask the effects of alcohol, leaving drinkers unaware of how intoxicated they are.
"FDA does not find support for the claim that the addition of caffeine to these alcoholic beverages is 'generally recognized as safe,' which is the legal standard," Sharfstein told reporters. "To the contrary, there is evidence that the combinations of caffeine and alcohol in these products pose a public health concern."
One of the companies that received warning letters was Phusion Projects, of Chicago, Illinois, which makes Four Loko -- a drink nicknamed "blackout in a can" by some users. The company announced Tuesday that it was dropping caffeine and two other ingredients, guarana and taurine, from Four Loko in the face of "a difficult and politically-charged regulatory environment."
The other companies are San Diego, California-based United Brands, which manufactures the Joose and Max brands; Portland, Oregon's Charge Beverages Corp., which sells Core High Gravity HG, Core High Gravity HG Orange, and Lemon Lime Core Spiked; and New Century Brewing of Boston, Massachusetts, which makes Moonshot.

More nanny-state tactics put to use.
I don't drink all that much myself and never really bothered to get into this 4Loko craze.
But if some random kids wants to make an ass of himself, get toasted and then die in the process, then that's just a failure of their own self-control.
Darwinism, the only theory that has never failed to prove itself time and time again.
Perhaps if we followed it to the teeth, the world wouldn't be suffering from such a population burden right now.

thats OK I already have the DIY recipe:
2 cans of Red Bull
1 oz of everclear
1/2 oz of antifreeze
1 crushed nodoze tablet
6 oz of Mountain Dew
mix the crushed no-doze tab with redbull till dissolved
mix in everclear and mountain dew
then anti-freeze until desired color and flavor are achieved.

This is a real shame. This is going to deprive me of the future experiences of dealing with people acting really stupid.
I'm not a big fan of the FDA. Actually I see the FDA as an enemy to our freedoms.
I would encourage everybody to call your US senators and encourage them to amened the language of the Food Safety Bill S 510. It already looks as if it is going to pass, but with the amended language it will take the teeth away from the FDA having the ability to recklessly arrest and raid food producers.

I agree that the FDA is stupid and hypocritical. (Hypocrisy in the case of the example of cigarettes above due in large part to richer-than-god lobbyists in tobacco industry. But I digress.)
On the bright side, you can still make your own. I can still brew a strong pot of coffee, drop some whiskey in there, and I'm good to go.

ask to buy cases at your local liquor store... it's time to stock up on the good shit! if you were wondering, 4loko comes a dozen per case- or basically 48 beers and 72 cups of coffee per case.
make sure you get a case of the good stuff. soon there will be no caffeine and just shitty fruity alcohol bullshit.
