DarkCen metric

This metric century will take us from Olivera Street, in the heart of downtown Los Angeles to the sage filled air of Azusa Canyon. We will stop in Azusa Canyon to experience the mountain air and chirps, buzzes and howls of the fauna in the area. Expect to smell chimney smoke. Expect to see your breath as we push ourselves just a little harder than before. Expect to feel the autumn creeping around us and the Dark Century pulling us in like an unexpected event from the Large Hadron Particle Collider

Every time I see something mention the Large Hadron Collider, I always think of John Titor and his badass GE-made time machine.
PS: he isn't real.

hey...anyone else? This will be a beautiful nighttime ride, with autumn coming on strong. And, if you are worried about the hills in Azusa Canyon, you need not. We will be turning around before the big hills start, right at the end of the separated bike path. At that point it will be so dark up there, you will notice it instanly. And the sounds and smells of the place where the valley sage meets the mountain pines is unmistakable and memorable. It makes me want to keep riding up there at night, every time.

Everything is going on as planned. The link to this thread from the ride post has been broken since I posted the ride. I just fixed that...so that people can post on this thread.

I just updated some of the info in the post to include the fact that this ride will make a Short stop at the "We Ride By Night" opening at Site LA.

A group will probably form who will ride at around that pace...but the front group will wait it different points for all of the rest of the riders. Because this metric century is open to a riders with a fairly wide range of abilities, and since it is intended to help people ride their first 100k, we will wait for all riders periodically. So, overall....it's not gonna be fast.

I'm heading out for ride start in about 45 minutes if anyone wants a ride from WeHo. Phone number is in my profile. I've got only two seats in the minivan, but plenty of room in the back if you don't mind sitting on the floor.

This ride, on a scale of 1 to 10, was COLD. Fall is here and that is good, but that means less short shorts, and that makes me sad.

Did anybody get a picture of the bear? I think we were cheated, I didn't see a bear. It's not right. Maybe next Saturday the fluffy huggable will embrace us with a Hug.
