This metric century (100 km) will take us from Olvera Street, in the heart of downtown Los Angeles to the sage filled air of Azusa Canyon. We will ride through Hollywood, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Mid-Wilshire, the San Gabriel Valley, Pasadena and Eagle Rock.
After few miles into our ride, will will make a short stop at the "We Ride By Night" opening at Site LA-- an art exhibition that focuses on riding bikes at night. Then we will complete the major portion of our ride. Some will use this ride as a trainer for the DARK CENTURY (100 miles) that will take place on the night of October 18
When: October 11, 2008 7 pm
Where: Olivera St. gazebo, downtown Los Angeles. (just across the street from Union Station)
What to bring:
two extra tubes
food-energy bars
water
tools (allen wrenches, tire levers etc.)
a tire pump (or co2 canisters)
If you are riding fixed, bring a wrench for track nuts
If you are riding a mountain bike or a bike with anything other than 700s (like 26" or 27" tires)--you should bring a backup foldable tire in addition to the two tubes that fit your wheels.
(bringing an extra foldable tire is a good idea...no matter what size tire you have.)
