Who's going to pull the trailer? Is this a "no walka left behind" event? Are you going to make spoke cards with an attachment so that people can wear them in their pants pockets?

OK, now that that's out of my system: I'm interested. I've been neglecting my walking.

Don't forget the famous Santa Monica Steps. It is used so often by cross trainers that they've actually had to recemnt the steps.
Hella workout and freeway close!

I'm actually dying to go hiking. I used to go for long walks through forest trails all the time in Ontario... and I really miss it. Let's do this!

Work in progress, but can shape this as we go along. So.......
*Yes cross dressing will be encouraged.
*Dan said he'll pull the trailer.
*There will be no walka left behind.
*Not going to make spoke cards unless there will be riding on the ride. *It will matter on the ride and the walk. If there's no riding, I was thinking of making a stencil and spray it on the person.
*We will do some other steps in other areas, including SM. There's even some in Malibu of all places! I have the book from the link above. It gives some tours of the surrounding LA area.
*All ridazz will be encouraged to take there bikes with them up the stairs. Others can lock their bikes if they choose to do so.
*I'm jonesing to do some hiking too. There's even some small hiking trails that are located in neighborhoods! How cool is that?
*I do miss doing the longer hikes up in the mountains too. :-(

Got this response back from the person that probably knows the most about the stairways in LA, at least one of the most knowledgeable ones around.
I sent off this question to him,
Hello Charles,
I saw your post tonite at,
http://www.gelatobaby.com/2008/04/14/to-see-every-stair-in-silver-lake/ and noticed that you're working on a guide to stairways in LA. Sounds great and I am definitely interested. I have the book called Stairway Walks in LA and have done just about all of them. I'm interested in getting some friends and going on the walks again. If you know of a user group on this subject, I would be interested in that also. Basically anything and everything you could possibly think in regards to stairways in LA I would be interested in. Thank you and I look forward to your response
Response,
Dear Allan,
Thanks for the note. I am delighted to know there are other stairwalkers in the world outside.
I have a group that walks the first Saturday of every month. We took the summer off, because I was out of the country, but are reconvening shortly. I also have a huge database of Los Angeles stair walks -- I've located, walked, mapped, counted and photographed about 250 of them -- that typically take in five to ten public staircases each. The walks take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours, and are located everywhere from El Sereno and Pasadena to the east to Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades to the west. I am meeting with publishers now and hoping the walks will become a book shortly.
Thanks again for writing. I hope we can meet and do some stairs.
Best,
Charles
