Bike Gal for Lagos

Dear Bicycle Female,
I used to live in Los Angeles, and I now live and work in Lagos, Nigeria. I'm 28 and on a great career path and as such I am looking to build a life with a Bike Gal from LA.
I posted here at the suggestion of a Bike Gal friend & I do realize the trollers will probably have a field day with this, but that is okay. Trolls will be Trolls
Bike Gal's from LA I've found are full of adventure and ambition. They're typically stronger/ more independent than a lot of the other LA girls that I know. Knowing that, I thought I'd just come out and ask.
In Lagos you will find Adventure, rewarding work, a very close knit community, and well, I have A LOT of fun here. We have, as a community, private beaches/ beach houses/ Boats. We attend concerts, go out for drinks and/or clubbing, art events, and lots of house parties. You rarely have to drive, we all have drivers, and all live within 3 miles of one another. Typically, the average Lagosian Expat leaves town every 4-5 months, and we're only 6 hours away from Europe, the Middle East, and South Africa, so vacationing is always easy. I just came back from a trip to Lebanon and Greece myself.

I forgot the first thing people think about from abroad when they hear Nigeria is Scammers.
You will even see walls with spray paint that say "beware of 419 this house is not for sale" It isnt a part of daily life, but everyone is well aware of it.
But when you get past all that you are mainly surrounded by kind hearted people who smile even as they walk through puddles of water to get to work after a heavy rain.
I'll take crime here over crime in LA anyday. There may not be much of a police force, but people here stand up for themselves and others.

My brother in law is from Lagos, him his 2 sisters and his 2 brothers. They all live in the US and all married to Americans (not the youngest one he is only 16). They don’t go back because that place is a shit factory. It’s dirty and smelly by their words. And why can’t you pick up some English chick? The Brits go down to Nigeria like people in LA go to Tijuana.

Two Feet, Lagos is not pretty, we still don't get power 24 hours of power, and depend on generators throughout part of the day. Although during the past 2 years the city has gotten tremendously better. Since I've been here dozens of restaurants and clubs have opened up, venues, security, traffic. New buildings, the art world has grown tremendously, all kinds of activities that I'm going to a Photo Festival this weekend.
When I met with delegations of the Nigerian Diaspora in London and New York, they had the same outlook, at least for the most part. But you would be surprised how many would come back if they had the infrastructure in place. In fact, I deal with a lot of Nigerians now who have moved back.
The Brits mainly come down for business, and leave. Nigeria is a commonwealth country. Also, they're men...
Spiral Demon: I don't talk about my Money, but I will say money earned here is Tax Free up until like $80-90k, and you also are given a monthly allowance on top of your salary to spend, as well as other benefits.

Twofeet: My grandfather moved here in the 40's from Lebanon, my mom was born here, and now my generation is living and working here. This country is not a nightmare, far from it. People don't just have jobs here, they run businesses, develop infrastructure, change the way people live for the better.
My sister company just opened on an on-ramp 2 days ago that has made a significant difference already in people's daily commute. The project I'm working on will have a positive impact on the city for the next 100 years at the minimum.
Who knows what opportunities are still to be found here. This place Isn't for everyone, but those who do come and stay find a rich and fulfilling lifestyle.

Thanks COE COE! I'm in Lebanon in July 2011 for a cousins' wedding. If you were ever planning on visiting, it would be then!
