Detainment at ALC8 VA

Don't ever let a cop to delete pictures off your camera.
Even if they threaten to confiscate it.
They don't have a right to delete your pictures or confiscate your camera. EVER.
It's within your first amendment rights to record anything your eyes can see.
They can't tell you "DON'T TAKE PICTURES" any more than they can tell you "DON'T LOOK" or "ERASE YOUR MEMORIES".

Don't touch the memory chips when you are forced to "DELETE" the pics/vids. Start using another chip immediately. You can recover "deleted" data off of anything as long as you write over it, even if you do, with a little hack-hack-ery, you can recover almost anything.

Fuck the police! They were prob just mad cause the number of fit cyclists outnumbered their fat asses, so they were extra apprehensive. It's always like that. Someone from the bike in movie last night told me TV man was at this event. Anyone know if he got arrested?

As I understand it, no one was arrested, but several people were detained, my self included. I was shooting crowd shots of the ceremony when I got word the police were harassing people, and as my instinct I immediately hopped on my bike, camera still in hand, to get photos of what was going on. When I showed up barley and limefly were on the curb detained by police, and I started shooting photos from the other side of the street. Then a security guy I think it was, alerted police, and these were federal police, that I was one of "them".
Then Meghan watched as I was rounded up. I was instructed to delete the photos I took, and I denied the request saying I had a right to take the photos. Then the officer asked for my ID and then told me I was on federal land, and that I was taking illegal photography on federal property, and apparently taking photos of the ALC ceremonies was okay, but taking photos of anything they don't me to is not okay. Not being well versed on differences in photography rights on federal property I eventually complied and deleted the photos of the detainment I had captured, not really in the mood to push it, and I didn't have any especially incriminating photos as I showed up later. This was my first time being detained for photography, and I know my rights on public land, but I need to do some homework on federal regulation of photography.
It's really unfortunate what a bunch of dicks the VA center security are, apparently holding a grudge against us for having too much fun last year and calling the cops immediately. But I want to thank everyone who showed, I think it meant a lot to the team to see every one cruise in with music and show the love even if only short lived.

A friend of mine was in new york. and he was taking pictures in the subway station. and i guess cops stopped him and told him he couldnt take pictures in there because of terrorists. they can pull off alot more stuff with homeland security act. it is probably the same reason that they say terrorists could use pictures to plot an attack

Don't listen to Marino. He probably has stock in this company and working on retiring to some Greek island to live the rest of days eating meze and drinking ouzo till he's too fat to get outa bed.

Regarding the heavy handed security at the VA, I don't see why this organization even have the ending here. Seems to me that a park setting would be alot nicer. There could be more of a city wide participation if it was at a park too. This could include bands, vendors, more of an awareness for everyone, and a day long celebration instead of some stage set up on an asphalt parking lot. I know the organizers can do alot better than this!

Veterans Affairs Police=More pork-barrel, money hole spending to drive over-accumulated tax dollars into.
It just baffles me to see that every, separate level of the federal and even, state government has to have its own police force for every, miniscule property they hold a finger over.
Whatever happened to just having simple, federal property police that acted under one, specific set of guidelines in pertinence to dealing with issues like the ones presented in this scenario?
Truth is, the government is too fucking big and if money is to be saved, the obvious cuts are right in front of our faces.
As Dale Gribble will always say, "Guns don't kill people, the Government does."

Nothing better than a point and shoot for these cases.
SLR's take crispy shots, but everyone can see them.
At least I could wear a long-shirt and hide the camera within my cuffs.

These Federal cops are just practicing for when they become NWO police.
The VA cops have a history of harassing cyclist that pass thru the VA.
