we'll have open season rides, where we all meet at one place, and decide hunting borders, so we can cruise around and have an all out hunting ride.
rules states that you can't hunt at other organized rides, so we'll have rules for the rides that are designated for hunting.
this also will get a lot of other riders to ride more during the day.

I've got 17 registrations already! Keep registering. The greater the numbers, i'll have a better case to present to the GT staff.

i have just registered...but one lil question....
What about if you are in 3 jurisdictions at any given time...
I ride to and from work and run errands in inglewood.
Visit my bois in echo park, downtown area often.
and i sometimes go to the westside...Culver city...palms
pretti*ugli10.8.08 - 4:20 pm
reply
there are no jurisdictions. its city limits.
the whole region thing is solely for statistics.
the bike class will be used in determining a point system. wouldn't be fair if a road bike chased all cruisers and got the same number of points as chasing down other road bikes.
you can be riding anywhere in the city and as long as they have the plate in the back and their foot isn't down, they're fair game.

great idea! I'm registered. I already wanna ride more. funzzzzzz!

Very very excited.
Two Questions:
1. What's this about having a foot down? I understand it's not fair to 'capture' someone if they are just chillin havin' lunch or whatever, but you can't 'escape' a 'capture' by just hopping off your bike now, can you?
2. How are we going to handle situations where me and rider B, both players, are riding opposite ways on the same street, and notice each other about the same time. Who is chasing, and who is being chased in that situation? It's obvious enough if one person continues on their way and the other makes a u-turn to give chase, but what if both riders head straight towards each other for the 'capture'? should we just trade spoke cards in that scenario...or...?
Lance K10.8.08 - 4:40 pm

@Lance
I'm still working out the rules, theres a bunch of what ifs and what happens.
in such a situation where two riders are coming towards each other, one rider would have to initiate the chase, should they want. its whoever can end up in a position behind the other rider.
predators do not co-cannibalize with other predators. that seems silly. Its whoever can come from behind for the catch.
I'm going to have the rules done by this upcoming monday, and post it up with suggestions for making some changes.

the foot down rule is really there for red lights and safety.
but i guess red lights come with the terrain when hunting in the city.
ijunes10.8.08 - 4:50 pm

If two people both see one another they should have to both try to get behind the other rida and whomever can tag the others back should win. That or they could exchange dual cards, impromptu pursuit race around windward circle anyone?
larsenf10.8.08 - 4:53 pm
reply
no dual cards, the game is won by not causing inflation of the cards. its like a hunt, if you're going to hand out your catch cards to each other, you better play chicken for it and run straight on like a ram.
ultimately its whoever comes up from behind on the other cyclist.
ijunes10.8.08 - 4:58 pm
reply
@larsen,
when we go into open season, you should have a closed range ride at the windward circle.
it'll be like duck duck goose on bikes.
ijunes10.8.08 - 4:59 pm
reply
hahahha i like that. im just gonna start traveling the wrong way down streets. if i come up on someone ill cross is someone is coming towards me i can just speed up! ROOOOOOTTT!!!
larsenf10.8.08 - 5:01 pm
reply
okay, i think i get the head-on situation fo' sho. but if i come up behind somebody at a red light who's stopped, can't i tag 'em? I mean, if they really wanna escape they can make a right on the red or something at least semi-legal/safe.
Lance K10.8.08 - 5:01 pm
reply
yeah. red lights are going to be a part of the terrain. but exercise caution.
don't bust a wil e. coyote.
ijunes10.8.08 - 5:02 pm
reply
I guess the alternative is that it's a sprint from that red light - whoever gets a bike length ahead wins...that makes plenty of sense, actually, except that a sure-thing-tag can turn into a sprint for your life if the light is timed wrong :)

So apparently there's some confusion as to what area this covers. This is to happen EVERYWHERE! You don't have to be in DT, Eastside, Westside, Valley, etc.

la duderina10.15.08 - 11:43 am

This should be fun! I like the idea of sprinting out of the red lights instead of forcing people to potentially put themselves in harm's way unnecessarily running reds, but I like sprinting in general. I did have a question regarding rule #4: "You must have your catch cards visible before, during, and after a catch to receive a catch card." Does that mean that the catch cards that we give out when caught must be visible? Or that the catch cards that we have accumulated must be visible?
