LA2SD: The Stone(d) Ride

This is a medium-paced, 70-80 mile ride from Long Beach to Stone Brewing Company in North San Diego County, CA, before it gets too chilly!
MEETUP: 10:00am, Sat. Nov. 8th, Long Beach transit mall
RIDEOUT: 10:30, down PCH to Oceanside at a non-exhausting pace with brief stops every ~15 miles, or as needed.
THE PLAN: We ride to Oceanside. Depending on how we feel, we either ride another ~18 miles inland to stone brewing company, or we take the spiffy new north-county-light-rail "SPRINTER" train. We drink many beers. Depending on how drunk we get/how late we stay, we either ride or train it back ~12 miles towards the coast and crash at my mom's house (i know, right?!)...however, the oceanside amtrak/metrolink station is just a few stops further down the line, soooo you have a few options:
-Take an evening amtrak, or even the last metrolink, back to LA straight from oceanside (no trip to stone). This will have you back in LA by sat. evening
-Take the train from stone to a late amtrak back to LA, getting you in Saturday around midnight/1am sunday.
-Sleep in Oceanside and take an early metrolink/amtrak back to LA sunday morning
-Hang around in Oceanside on sunday and take a late train back on sunday (the option I'll be...well, opting for)
NOTE: I fully intend on doing the wolfpack all-city century the following monday...we will have over 48 hrs to recuperate from this ride, and I'm planning to take it somewhat easy with the intent of ensuring fresh legs monday night.
BRING: two tubes that fit, cashola, calories, water bottle cages, lights, at least one warmish layer, an extra tire casing if yer paranoid

Hey!
My friends and I are planning to join the group but besides a couple of rider, I doubt we'll be able to keep up for the most part.
Can we get the route to put in our GPS?

I think we should move the ride ahead an hour to make it that much safer for people to make the 10:04 train from oceanside to union station, even if they want to come out and have dinner at stone with us. To clarify that part further: We'll ride to oceanside (arriving 5-6:30), most likely take the light rail to stone (~15 miles inland), sit for dinner by 7 at the very latest, and then leave by 8:30 at the very latest to RIDE back to oceanside. It will be dark, we will be slightly intoxicated, but there's also a bike path for two big chunks of it, and we will have more than one local meeting us there to lead us back. Lights are a must.
The route is PCH, like....The entire way. At least a few of us will have done this exact route more than once already. There are some rolling hills in the middle, but of the type that require very little other than the prudent application of momentum to surmount. We will be going through camp Pendleton rather than riding the I-5 by night, so BRING A HELMET AND AN ID, or they wont let you through. It's actually a very pleasant, pretty car-free little section to end the primary part of the ride. Again, lights are a must, i think it's dark on base, at least where we will be.
We will decide on regroup spots as we go based on how much we're spreading out and what kind of pace we're keeping, but don't worry about being dropped - we'll stop just to get everyone back together every hour or so at the most. That said, if you havent ridden forty miles in a single go in the last couple months, i would highly recommend doing so RIGHT NOW so you'll be in shape by Saturday :)
I'll be taking the blue line that leaves 7th/metro at 8:07. or maybe 8:22 if i fuck up. They get to the LB transit mall at 9 and 9:15 respectively, so hopefully everyone blue-lining it will make one of those two trains.
The list so far, as i see it:
1. Me
2. Steveo
3. TheJen
4. Danny Z (+ friends?)
5. ideasculptor?
6. Jonny be bad?
7. royalacademy

I didn't want to estimate speed since it depends on wind, and most people in my experience have very poorly calibrated speedos... But I'm thinking 17 or 18 on the flats. Alternatively, I hope to go the Same speed as the dark cen, minus that crazy la river paceline.

Lance, I'm sorry to say I'm out. I'm really bummed about this, but I just don't think it's a good idea to test my knee on this long of a ride yet. It is still bothering me a bit and I REALLY want to get that shit healed up. Plus, it sort of feels important to be at tomorrow's Prop 8 protest.
Okay, enough excuses, just wanted to let you know it wasn't going to happen for me, so you weren't waiting or anything at the start (nor call me that early to see what's up -- I'll be asleep!). Have a super fun ride, guys and gals! I'll be there next time!
