Perhaps a touchy subject.....It has been a year or so. However if the only way to get my mug on that banner is to die I'll pass.

How about all the once who died because riding a bike in LA?
Perhaps we should make a separate bike ride "The Memorial One" or is the second Friday one the memorial ride now?

I have no problem with Alan, in fact he's always been very good to me. I love running into him...
As far as trolls, I think that like criminals often the really good ones don't get found out. And then there are people who just like to troll openly and have fun with it...oh and the "accidental" trolls...;)
I'm not talking about socio/psychopaths who make death threats and such. That's bad behavior to be avoided (and illegal).

Yeah are u guys mourning his internet presence or did he actually die? Also, seconded on changing the banner. I know Roadblock is a busy man, but I think he ought to carve out a minute or two to pop a new banner in there. Very tactful way to put it there, Alice.

I, for one, think the banner is perfect. It does show JJ (RIP, fellow Ridaz) in our habitat, a Ridaz habitat. And that is our way of showing recognition, and at least some love. Some of us may not or don't have much else... Them few rides we have been present on. LA is not the nicest city for transplants or leftovers or who knows where you came from or why you are here...
It's also time, work and cost for RB? Or whoever is keeping this site alive, to do so.
Requests to change this and that... I know I've constantly mentioned the "let's make an MR smartphone app!" Request... Repeatedly. But again, let's think cost. Sure this site is pretty bare bones these days, forum wise. And those handbags... But there ARE still plenty of rides that get consistent posting, and I am far from believing this site is completely dead. Even if the responses are much slower, there still several here, that may see your tidbit of info/post, and have something to reciprocate. Even if it's just hating on your ride. But still showing up to it. Or just giving u a hug. Or ride next to you.
Ride On....
As much as I would enjoy a new banner every season... It's not such a bad idea to continuously remember the few loners of us that are out here, that do show up to rides, that are NOT the most social, that don't have huge FB and ig followers... To get a little recognition from the after-hours cycling community, they so tried to fit into. Or at least, enjoy. Not all of is fit-in like some others. Not all of us are here to get wasted. Not all
Of us are here to bike hundreds off miles, quickly. Not all of us are here to take rides or participate too often...
But for all those that are here... Still
We still here
We outchere
We love y'all, too.
We may not have the balls to do as much or love as much, on cameras. But doesn't mean we don't come out, we don't ride out, we don't support. We do. We here. Drunk or not, anti-social or not, we are all cyclists, and if this is the last place our souls may find any peace, any fun, any love... Even if it's just a few more rides, til the end...
We made it somewhere. We cared.
And thank you to those few left who still acknowledge and at the very least, return the love. Even if its a fake hug, some fake love, or a beer. Ugh, that beer, tho. A few minute conversation over something almost irrelevant, like the type of pedals you should check out, for your riding habits. A new brand of tires, you might not have considered, for your commuter ride to be a bit more reliable on those gnarly streets of LA... Anything. Your shitty choice of beer, for spokes sake.
Thank bike gods for those few still posting here, still riding, still advocating for cyclists rights and environmental/transportational change... In one of the worlds largest metropolis', that is by far, no where near cycle friendly, yet.
EddieBoy WAS HERE. JJ was here. Tomatoes was here.
I'm here. Those few of us, are here.

I won't forget the time I first started on TnB, and consistently made MNR, which drastically changed my life. Thanks Osnap and those few awesome spoke cards... (I sill have them all, of course).
I won't forget the time Sgt. Krumer and RB and Andy and the rest of the Bike Oven, somehow pleaded the release of my On-One bicycle from the clutches of LAPD, after they cut my lock and stole it from me, right in front of the Dennys on Vermont in hwood.
I won't forget Bev walking down under the freeway entrance , to find me crying alone afterwards taking me in to rest and smoking a blunt w me.
Damn.

I made it to the third stop and then headed home to try to get some sleep. Good seeing you there PC and it was good hanging out for a while at the Plaza and running into old friends.
