So it seems my housing situation has fallen through.
I'm leaving this place in Pomona tomorrow. I don't really have an option with that. The problem is, I don't have anywhere else to go. Or really any money to go somewhere with (I've got a little cash, but not enough to move in somewhere with).
I think I'm gonna have to storage my shit, I don't have much stuff (aside form some bikes), but I still need somewhere to put it. Beyond that, at this point I don't have much of a plan.

Might I suggest some cat/dog sitting during the holidays.
It could be a chance for a place to stay for a week or more and allow you to save up some money and couch surfing vouchers.
Get some references lined up, and get the word out.
Lots of people need a reliable person to watch their pet when they leave town for the holidaze.

Storage units are a good option. If you can find one with chill managers, you can sometimes live out of them. A storage unit to crash in and a gym membership to shower/shave/etc. can be a pretty cost effective mode of living until you find the cash for a better situation.
Couchsurfing.com might also be interesting, as you could check out different parts of L.A. that way. I've got friends who spend their weekends doing that if they want to party in a different neighborhood and don't feel like driving.
Good luck man! If you need a couch to crash on at any point, let me know.

yeah, I know about couchsurfing.
storage and maybe a cheap gym membership (I have no clue as to who's cheapest, any suggestions?) was kind of my idea, however, I would prefer to find someone willing to rent a large closet or a longer term couch or something.
If someone is willing to do such a thing, let me know, remember it will lower your rent too...

@fuzz
I pay $42/month for access to all 24 Hr Fitness locations across the country.
But, I put like $300/down when I joined up in '05.
Still, nothing like having a temperate place to burn fat and build muscle during periods of no-rides.
And the Sport/SuperSports have some pretty, kick-ass pools and spas.

there is nothing more that I want right now than to be out of this apartment. However, I was hoping I'd have a nice warm place to live afterwords, but meh.
worst comes to worst, I've got a tent, I would just need somewhere to put it...

actually, let me rephrase that.
nothing more than to be out of here, and surrounded by my friends.
You guys really are my family, when I'm with y'all, all the shit that happens, it doesn't matter, cause I'm with a community of people who care about each other, and love each other, and it's pretty unique and amazing...
let's make the world like that.

regarding the gym memberships. those upfront sign-up fees are negotiable although they won't tell you straight up they are. they also jack up prices right around and after the holidays. you might have more success negotiating at la fitness, but i've heard 24 does the same. in this economy, i would suggest negotiating anything. companies are hard up to sell.

I've always thought of that as a good, business venture.
Plopping down some money for a good-sized, lot and designating some fire-pits.
But, to keep the place in-touch, I would market this place to "life-minimalists".
All the prisses with mobile-trailers and RV's can park alongside the freeway, and deal with some MADD Trckrs!!!

I'm pretty sure the YMCA is the best of the cheapest gyms.
They pro-rate membership if you are low income.
There may be advantages to other gyms but I dunno.
Cause my gym has two wheels and know shower.

There are some kickass 4-8br houses for not unreasonable prices on Redfin.com (and not entirely in horrific neighborhoods), and more are being listed all the time.
So if somebody's got the "monies" and is interested, it's getting more and more possible.

looks like im gonna swing another couple days out of this appt at the least (thanks to my roomate being generous - yay for couch surfing my own appt). There's still some crap that needs to be finalized anyway (utilities and such, plus I need to move my shit still). If there are enough people willing to commit to a bikehouse starting next month at the latest, I might be able to swing living here another month (i.e. pay rent or something).
However, that is the optimal situation, bikehouse next month I mean.
Knowing how my year has been, that will not be the situation. I fully expect to be a homeless bum by the end of this week.

I would like to express my thanks, to all of you, both on and off this board that have been so kind, encouraging and helpful, both in the last 24 hrs as well is in the coming period of time.
I probably wouldn't still be in LA if not for the wonderful community that has flowered here. I probably wouldn't be making the art that I am, or working on the writing I'm working on. I probably wouldn't have the love that I feel in my heart for all of you, regardless of this issue. I'd also probably (well, maybe) not be so broke... oh well, I'll take being a pauper who is richer than any prince when it comes to friendships and community, than a rich loner any day.
Thank you all so much.

So it looks like I'm going to be out here in Pomona a little longer. I managed to broker a deal with my roommate to stay longer. Both of us are trying to move in the near future (both of us have been for a while) and he's trying to help me out.
I plan to spend the next couple weeks looking for a job as hard as possible. Anyone know of ANYTHING that can help me out?

What kind of job are you looking for?
What kind of skills do you have?
Indeed.com is awesome for full-time employment, and the "gigs" section of craigslist can be good for quick cash. (Or, just throw some of your artwork in your pack/borrow a bike trailer and set up shop at Venice Beach.)
If you (or anybody else) need a hand sorting out a resume, let me know.
