After reading the thread on Mrs. Mowery followed by the article about Midnight Ridazz, I have a new outlook on it all.
I had no idea you cats were so Active. I mean damn my first ride was a crank mob, and i sorta kinda let that dictate on how I "saw" things. As a person that never owned a car, and really i cannot see any major use for them besides long trips, i have hopes more peoples use their bikes to get around. The word "scene" kills the meaning of riding my bike in this city we all call LA because I ride my bike EVERY FUCKING WHERE! It is not just something i hop on Friday-Sunday and get wasted. I am glad that their are people who work on making the streets safer for the ones that actually commute.
MAJOR PROPS!!!
Also where can i get info on those crimanimalz rides???

I've said it here before and i'll say it again....an old punker once said... capitalize and categorize....that's what breaks down a scene.

Keep riding mike. Talk to Ingipet or SoapboxLA if you want to learn more about things you can do to help the bike community present their needs to the government and the media.
Check out the LA. County Bike Coalition (LACBC) website as well.

@ Barleye,
I think it depends who does the capitalization and categorization.
If it is done by some big corporation, or corporate media, than yeah. That is a scene killer.
If a scene is capitalized by the people who live and love the scene then it actually helps the scene to flourish.
I'm happy that we have local business run by bike peeps.
When they are out there making their livings trying to make biking better and more accessible it helps us grow.
If people who are part of the scene and love the scene contribute to it and make their livings helping it grow it nurtures the scene and leaves less room for corporate bloodsuckers.
On the other hand if we are talking about biking as mass transportation like it is in normal countries like Japan or Holland then yeah its inevitable that it will be mass marketed.
I basically want to see everybody on a bike. If we do our jobs it could happen in our lifetimes.
But if/when it happens, that 40+% of Angelinos use bikes to get around, my beloved Midnight Ridazz will be somewhat irrelevant.
