Can you offer some links that give more comprehensive info on your endorsements.
At first glance, and from the little info I have gotten (even from opposition ads) I pretty much agree with all of that stuff.

-------

As far as presidential politics. Let me say that while I am registered green, I think that the whole Obama = Romney thing is a canard.

Even in the area of foreign policy in which they are most similar. Romney is trying to flank Obama on the right being even more hawkish and proposing 100s of Millions of additional Military spending.

But when it comes to social issues there is no comparison.

Romney is way to the right of Obama on:

Gay Rights
Reproductive rights
Equal pay for women

He wants to end Fed funds for everything form FEMA to PBS

Romney wants to retain the historically low Tax rates on the top 1% income earners and have the brunt of that burden be barred by everybody else, while slashing programs that help the poor, struggling, and middle class.

Romney wants to slash the modest reforms to wall street that have peen put in to help prevent another Bush era fiscal calamity.

Romney has said outright that he wants to favor coal, oil, and nuclear power, and do away with investments in sustainable energy.

Not to mention supreme court nominees that will affect world for the next 30 years.

One only needs to look Citizens United and corporate person hood to consider how different things might have been even with with the bland baby food choices that Gore and Kerry were.

-------------------

There will only be 1 of 2 people in the white house for the next 4 years.
And while I strongly believe that we badly need election reform that will make 3 and 4th parties viable in the country. Voting for them this time around will not make that change real.

Let me leave you with one thing. If you are voting for a third party ... can you personally afford a rightward shift in:

Racial Profiling
Abortion and Birth Control access
Food Stamps and Social Welfare
Health care access
Equal rights based on your gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual identity
etc.

Odds are you probably can.
Especially if like me you have grown up with the privilege middle class, light skinned, and with a penis.

But, I have way to many friends and peers for whom there are REAL STAKES in this election to make a symbolic vote based solely on my personal ideals.

I have friends and family who can not afford the social and economic changes Romney is proposing,

So while I will remain registered Green and will always vote for any viable Green candidate who has a shot: This presidential election I'm going to cast a vote for Obama: the least fucked up President in my lifetime...

Please expand your thoughts on 34 (ending the death penalty in CA)

Here is why I have always been against the death penalty.
Why I am voting YES ON 34

1) Death penalty has NEVER been proven to reduce crime. Typically the countries with the death penalty are among the highest incarcerators per capitia with the worst human rights records

2) The state should not be given to power to kill people

3) Our judicial system is fallible. Innocent people have been killed by the court on many occasions.

4) The death penalty has been time and again found to be racist and unevenly applied (like the rest of our criminal justice system) and is obviously a punishment that is irreversible

There are many examples of people who have been wrongly killed a good example of somebody who would have been killed by the state of CA had Death Penalty been legal in the 70s is whose conviction was vacated by a republican judge in Orange County after 27 years.

Of course the most recent/ widely known example is the recent state murder of
Troy Davis RIP

"if 34 passes, the sentences of 725 california death row inmates will be commuted to Life Without Parole (LWOP), and they're access to state-funded attorneys to file habeas corpus appeals will be gone. they will have no chance for exoneration, except on their own dime and, even then, without the possibility of parole, they're chances of ever facing an appellate judge will be next to nil. as much as the death penalty NEEDS to be trashed, 34 is NOT the way to do it. it throws all current incarcerees w/ death sentences under the bus and essentially guarantees that they will die in prison. i strongly strongly strongly urge y'all to vote NO on 34 and continue the fight AGAINST the death penalty, but FOR all those who have been condemned by the state."

"it's very reasonable that a proposed bill could include extended rights to state-funded attorneys for appeals for all those whose sentences would be commuted. it's also possible that a bill could commute sentences to Life (w/ possibility of parole)...ie. avoiding LWOP entirely. i work within prison abolition and prisoner education and i can tell you with confidence that responses from death row inmates themselves have been overwhelmingly in opposition to prop. 34. since 1972, CA has executed 13 inmates. the chances of the 725 death-row inmates being executed before they die in prison are slim.

as Cornell Thomas, death-row inmate, puts it in an essay, if Prop. 34 passes, "the courthouse doors will be slammed forever." Life without parole, he says, is "another death penalty."

according to Kevin Cooper, another death row inmate, "We are in fact taking a step backward in our ability to challenge our convictions,"

The bottom line is, if 34 passes, CA will be proud to say it does not officially execute inmates anymore. However, it will likely slow down, or even prevent, further legislative action to reduce the severity with which this state doles out its oppressive, violent, and dehumanizing punishments. Vote however you wish, but I urge you to recognize that it's a horribly flawed, narrow, and desperate tactic. LWOP is nearly as devastating and inhumane as the Death Penalty. I fear if it passes, CA will settle down with its 'accomplishment' of protecting prisoner/human rights and that's complete bullshit."

I'm voting No on 34.

Clinton is not running for office.
And there is exactly 0% chance the green party candidate will get elected.

But there is a VERY REAL risks if Romney gets elected.

Like I said, most of those things don't affect me directly as a white man who grew up middle class in southern california.

But I do know people who have needed an abortion, I do know people who have been profiled for looking like an immigrant, I do know people who have relied on subsidized birth control, I do have family that lost their business because of Wall Street's crashing of the economy.

Its a luxury and a privilege to vote green (or to abstain, or write in Borfo2012) in this election.

Its a privilege I have exercised in the past but will not exercise again until we have comprehensive election reform.

YES ON J = MORE RAIL PROJECTS
YES ON 30 = Increase taxes for > $250,000 to pay for schools

Just remember that if these pass you are going to see 1% in sales tax meaning. When you go to buy something for $10.00 you will be paying $1 it sales tax. That means something that cost $10 will actually cost $11, spend $50 pay $55. We all know how well everybody is doing economically what another increase in sales tax!

Here how it breaks down. If Measure J passes Will keep measure R, an increase in sales tax approved in 2008 for 30 years. An increase of 1/2%sales tax til 2039.

Prop 30 increases sales tax a quarter of a percent each year cumulatively for the next four years.

Oh and don't forget to vote yes or 38, (for more school money) increase your state income tax by 1%-9.3% depending on you income level. Which will be an increase of 2% or %4 for most.

We need measure J so you can have more buses that nearly miss you or in some unfortunate case hit you. Maybe some more rail that you will be looked at sideways for bringing your bike on when it does eventually come by to pick you up, and get harassed by sheriffs for your proof of fare who won't be there when a tyranny get his/her ass kicked.

We also need you to have less money in your pocket (Lord knows it is easy to make ends meet today,) and pay more for school that look like prisons and treat the students like criminals that give a less then mediocre education and stifle the students creativity.

PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS BOARDS WORD FOR IT. READ THE VOTER GUIDE BEFORE YOUR MAKE YOUR DECISIONS.

If anybody has a well thought out and valid arguments either for or against Prop 31, I would love to hear them. That and prop 40 (which I would like to hear from somebody who has looked at how The Citizen Commission Redistricting Commission has worked out so far) I'm not sure of? Probably will vote for 40 but really undecided on 31?

AGAIN......READ THE VOTER GUIDE and decide for yourself. These aren't that hard to make a decision on. I would suggest to avoid the in favor and against argument in the voter guide, there is much unfounded and emotional slurs that are made.

Does anybody have opinion County Measure A to have the Assessor be appointed by the County Supervisors or keep it a elected seat?. I'm for keeping it an elected seat.

because I don't believe in the state murdering people that means I'm OK with murder?

because I will not abide by the innocent people being occasionally killed by the state, I don't care about my family and loved ones?

If my mom was given bad treatment at Kaiser and died due her doctors fault should I kill the doctor to prove I live my mom. Should the dr. be lynched? what I I was really really really sad then would death be a suitable punishment?

I mean I care about my mom right?

killing, violence, and retribution are the causes problems not the solutions.

isn't weird that we have the death penalty and some of the highest incarceration rates in the world yet we still have one of the highest murder rates in the world.

maybe people are taught to be violent by a government that use violence and murder at tools of power.

If it was only an increase on those making 250k and above I would say "sure tax Roadblock at a hire rate", but as that character who is always asking me "you wanna get hi" said,,,,,it is a a 1% sales tax that will negativity impact the spending ability of the rest of us working poor.

Sure you are super rich and a couple of more percents on sales tax won't effect you but the rest of us working our $10-$12 an hour part time jobs after we pay our rent, we pay our cell phone bill, we pay for our food, various utilities, transportation, loans etc have very little money left. So paying an extra couple of dollars on our $20 purchase make a huge difference in our lives when we have so much little left over.

Yes many people want many things and they find ways of making it happen. Just like students want to continue their educations I do also. I find ways to everyday continue my education without imposing the bill on the rest of the public.

as Mitt Romney rightly pointed out over 1/2 of of Americans don't have to pay any income tax (although he is fucking clueless as to who they are and what it means) sales tax is paid by everybody who consumes based on their consumption. people who consume more, pay more.

The majority of what a truly poor person needs and spends most their money on is not taxed.
rent, groceries, bus passes, etc.

On the other hand. people who work in the underground economy, criminals, people who have a shit load of write offs, people whose income is based on capital gains and pay a lower percentage than payroll workers etc etc. all consume and that consumption is taxed at the same rate as everybody else's.

Furthermore TOURISTS who are a huge part of California's & LA economic engines pay no income tax here, but benefit from our investments in roads, infrastructure, development, emergency healthcare, first responders, state parks, and TRAINS. Sales tax is the fairest way to get them to pitch in for the benefits they enjoy while visiting.

Sales tax is one of the most equitable taxes the only tax everybody pays and I think we should rely on it to fund our growth and infrastructure so we can rightly all take pride in contributing to better the city / state we live in.

I almost totally disagree with you on everything you said about Obama. Either candidate is going to push this country into terrible austerity for all except it most wealthy. Foreign domination by USA has continued and will continue with whatever one those puppets giving the speeches and leading the ceremonies. There will be subtle changes but nothing that most will notice especially on those wedge issues you mentioned that go with the feel of the people of this country . If you are poor or trying to get by in this country you are equal screw no matter what your race or sex is. Instead of boring everybody with information that hasn't interest you as of yet (or else you would know it) and what I have to say wouldn't change the minds of most Obama supports anyways. I'll bring up a issue that I think should be equally important to everybody.

First The Republican party is dying. Demographically there is no way that Ronmey can win this election. In most states it is a fore gone conclusion who win each state. It is the few battle ground states that are important. Obama should win those. Yet as in 2000 in Florida and 2004 in Ohio and New Mexico these states could be lost by voter fraud. It is so important that we all start demanding that all of our elections be transparent, verified, and certified by it own citizenry. You might not realize it but even in California the machines are open to manipulation. (I actually got to experience it with a congressional campaign in 1994 and still see it every election up to this last election.) Without getting into that, I want to say that being vigilant about this problem is something we all have to get together and stop any opening in where voting that can't be rigged. Not just for this election but for all future elections.

Anybody politically minded should make this an issue and get super informed about it. This has been a huge problem in this country and is getting worse. From the 30's to the 60's it was both parties but the Dems would usually have more tricks up their sleeves. Since 2000 it has been the Republicans almost exclusively and continue through today. Why the Dems dont' make a bigger deal of this is beyond me. There must be more going on then I know.

Check out blackboxvoting.org or gregpalast.com as starting points. Listening to interview by Greg and/or Bev Harris are great starting points if your not familiar with this issue.

If you know anybody in Michigan. They are having an elections that is very important to the whole country. You may or may not know that the Governor under emergency powers is appointing Emergency Financial Managers to go into municipalities that are financially underwater. These managers act like viceroys. They disable the power of all elected official, council commissions and mangers. This has happened already in Flint, Pontiac, Benton Harbor and the Detroit Unified School district. Proposal 1 in Michigan would make this law.
http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Michigan_Emergency_Manager_Referendum,_Proposal_1_%282012%29

Also Proposal 2 will enshire the legality of collective bargaining rights into state law and ban the state from enacting right-to-work laws.

Make sure you vote yes on J or is it R
Because 27 more years of 1/2cent sales tax is not enough
we have to increase it to 57 more years. WTF!
