That look like me every night walking my dog... sans the bib, My red tri color aussie 'Noodles', isn't as good as the last dog, 'Yogi'. Yogi dropped me to the asphalt at least twice!

PETA wouldn't object to this - or if they do, they are morons. Working dogs want nothing more than to pull a load like that. I can't keep my huskies from doing this. I've got harnesses and lines for my dogs and they'll happily do 15 mile rides with me, though they get pretty slow toward the end. If I make them pull without pedaling, we can only go 3-5 miles, but that could be because I'm fat.
I had them with me at the start of the toy ride from NE LA, but not many people were there before I had to take them home and get ready for the ride.
If you have working dogs, it may not take much training at all. My dogs took to it like they were born to it (because they were). I had to teach them steering commands and such, but they understood the pulling concept the instant I put a load on their harnesses. Just don't make a dog pull much of a load until they have finished growing, skeletally. Dogs under 1 year old shouldn't pull unless you are pedalling.

Agreed on the Huskies. They WANT to pull. I had a Husky way back when, and one day I decided to walk him while riding my bike. He felt the tension on the leash, and it was pure instinct - his back hunched like a timberwolf and he nearly pulled me off the bike. When I straightened the wheel, he took off running.
Pure instinct. It was awesome.
Damn, I miss that dog...

I'm a bit sensitive to it, as I pretty much cannot take my dogs for a ride without some 'do-gooder' making a comment about how 'making' my dogs pull me on my bike is cruel.
