You guys are still welcomed to go. To assume you don't need some sort of leader is ridiculous. You'd all be on your bikes with your dicks in your hands wonderin what the fuck to do.
Sucks that you're sick... and feel better. Critical mass rides are dope. Post the ride and hope that people show up and they'll just start riding with or without the poster of the ride. People at the start will determine where they kinda want to go and just start riding. You really can't just postpone it... you should just let it be and have the people that want to support it... show up and ride.
It's good that you and your friends want to ride and at the same time have everyone come along and join. If your purpose is so you and friends want to ride and have fun... then I'd say take the CM name out and make it your own... with your own predetermined route and so on. I also read the details on the post.. "There will be many stops for beer, weed, and picking up hoes." All good. Stuff that I don't have a problem with and definitely want to ride with you guys but again... CM is more like a political protest, draw attn to bikes, and such with a little less on the emphasis of drinking and weed. Although it does happen.
Again... props for you and your friends to put on a ride. If you want to protest and ride... affirm cyclists rights for the road with no predetermined route then call it critical mass. If you want people to join you and your friends to ride... drink, smoke, and such... then call it your own... Like the "Pachuco" ride. Or... something related to that... You know what would be cool?? A "zoot suit" themed ride. I don't think that's ever been done. See you out on the road Alex..
i think if your going to put "critical mass" on a ride name, it should stick to the traditional aspect of what critical mass is. which is the last friday of the month, no route(which this ride had) and no leader.
i meant it as, whats the ride like i would like to try it sum time and want to make sure i have a bike that will keep me up with the pack. its not really a dumb question!
People ride all kinds of bikes, but your best bet is some sort of road or mountain bike. I would recommend leaving the beach cruiser at home if that is what you were thinking. Not that beach cruisers don't rule the fucking planet, because they absolutely do, its just they are called beach cruisers for a reason ya know. A BMX bike would also have trouble keeping up unless you got a big gear ratio on there and you are in pretty good shape. Any other bike would do great.
basically, you need something you can pedal for a distance without getting overly tired, and something that is easy to control in a swarm of people riding bikes in the midst of car traffic.
are you fucking serious, i enjoy riding all types of bikes and i have a few different bikes to ride. i just wanna know what the average rider rides so i dont over do myself or undo. i can tell from your smart ass remarks that you are one of those guys who borrows his little sisters pants and wears visored glasses at night and rides a fixxie. arnt you?
funanu, I'd bet money I've been riding longer than you. That's no excuse for being a smart ass.
That said, leftfield, excuse these guys, they may sound mean but they'll also probably be the first to hand you a beer, share a bowl, or help you with a flat out there on the streets. If these particular people wouldn't, there are plenty on the rides who will.
Of course, I dont know, being a chick helps a lot in the people being nice to you department. lol
la duderina is right. most of us here that respond with smart ass remarks are the ones first to help with flats, organize rides, picks up trash, leaves no rida behind. the truth is we just have nothing else better to do with our time but to post lame replys to every thread we see. and if you ever meet me, ur gonna find out im the same person i am here on the threads. im a nice person.
and i really dont care if you have been riding longer than i have. eventhough im sure i have been riding longer than you. lets go ride, smoke some bomb ass weed, drink some tall cans and ride till the sun comes up!
I was sick; therefore I thought I wasn't going to lead; therefore people didn't know where to go because they were expecting a route. People dop expect to go in a certain direction, everyone knows that.
We'll call our rides whatever the fuck we want, we'll eventually DO this ride, people should not be discouraged. Shit, if you wanted to ride so badly WHAT WAS STOPPING YOU?! Me? Postponing this ride? That's ridiculous.
clearly by that post your are the type of rider that has long hair, aviators, an undying love of death metal and scalogical performance punk and your fixed gear bike.
what do you mean? I was actually usuing this website for the first time and expected a real answer and shoulda expected a lilttle sarcasm so on my behalf i apologize and wasnt trying to be a dick.
my girl and I were at the wiltern red line station when we found out it was postponed- so we headed down Wilshire, up LaBrea hung a left on Sunset and cruised down to Robertson and headed back east... through the Grove. Must have been 10 cop cars and double that on the officers. We tried riding through but got told to get off our bike, a couple of times. Great ride other than that. RIDE ON!
