Has anyone ever been to the Moonie Temple in the San Bernadino mountains, near arrowhead?
reply
I LEFT AS SOON AS THEY STARTED SERVING KOOL AID.

I just came back from this place and would really like to know if anyone has had any experiences with this place.

Yes that's it. My friends and I had a bad run-in there today. Big scary guy attacked my friend and the other two of us had to fight him off...she had a camera & he walked up behind her tackled her to get it. The issue wasn't trying to take the camera, but that he attacked her and was more than twice her size. He was totally irate & proceeded to attack the two of us since we were both trying to pull him off of her. Terrible scene. I want to know if anyone has any experiences here, because we are all convinced that he's hurt someone in the past...we tried to talk to him, but he was not a rational person. We left running for our lives.

were you trespassing? was it bigfoot? will you report this mans actions to the proper authorities?
the "old fire of 2003" line made me giggle.

Yes, we were trespassing...but we didn't climb any fences to get there...and that's no cause for attack.
kryxtanicole01.13.09 - 6:56 pm

And yes, it will be reported. Because we know that he actually isn't even the caretaker of the place.

what happened to the camera? i want to see some pictures.

We got the camera. Trust, those pictures will go online soon. We've contacted the cops. That's how we know, by the description of the guy, that he is not the caretaker. Plenty of places you can't take photos, never have I heard of anyone being attacked. My friend is a small, 5'1" girl, less than 100 lbs...it was a lengthy struggle to get her free...then he grabbed the guy...then me...somehow I got free and we ran for our lives.

Damn, y'all should've brought me along.
My friend used to tell me urban tales regarding this mountain spot.
After hearing them, I've always wondered if anyone was ever, "Touched By God" up there.
In the case of this jack-ass, CS-Spray, hinge-cuffs(from y'all) and the sheriff's department(later) would've calmed his chilled nerves.

all the pictures from that one site are taken far away and it makes it super mysterious looking, but then typing in "moonie temple" into google turns up a few flickr pages of photos of the place up close.

RBI! That's my friend's picture! That's where we were yesterday, that's down the road from the temple itself. I'll put up pictures tonight.

I could probably ride up there from my stepdads place.
From the urbex experience we've gained on Robotz, perhaps we could make this "Automaton JackAlope"!!!

The street is Mazumdar. It's a dead-end road. Named after the guy who built the temple, before the moonies were there.
Automaton Jackalope - I do not recommend. This scene made that hospital look like chuck e. cheese's.

aka "Temple of Christ" - All the doors are barred/boarded and locked. This place is not in use.

Conservative religious cult run by Sun Myung Moon. They own the Washington Times and a shit ton of other
front groups. If you've eaten
sushi in the US, it probably came from True World Foods, their major moneymaking front.

Got the guy's name by way of accidentally picking up his jacket in the chaos...had a receipt in the pocket...have a contact at a local paper up here who searched criminal records...got the call back - he's on probation for assualting an officer & resisting arrest.

Thank god we have pd & press connects! Based on this info we'll each be filing assualt charges, which should lead to him going back to jail.

I originally posted just to see if there was anyone who had any kind of similar run-ins there. Apparently the guy has no assocation with the place, except that we may have been encroaching upon some kind of crime scene, considering he was so irate. Not sure what happened up there before we arrived, but so glad to be away safe and DAMN AM I HAPPY that we should be able to get him put away and prevent his hurting another person.
The moonies have bad juju...so does that place....only assocation we can make of it.

This must have been really fucking scary for you guys. Glad to see it turned out for the best.
Has anyone found the temple yet in google maps?
This looks fucking awesome to go explore! Camping trip and MTB riding! Toped off with some good o' fashion urban exploration? Fuck yeah!!!
It's less than 100 miles away too!
Got another one on my to-do list.

Good to hear you guys are ok.
On a sidenote, while working for State Farm a couple years back I insured one of the the moonies kids. I think his name was Edward Moon, really pushy asshole as was his brother. Didn't care too much for him until my older co-worker informed me they were sons of the late moonies cult leader.

The place was delightfully serene until the incident occurred. We are so grateful to not have been hurt. The place is known as the location of a particularly strong and volatile energy vortex. Also, I tend to believe in attraction and purpose, and as the details unfolded I as inclined to conclude that we experienced this so that we could be a catalyst to him returning to prison, where he can't harm anyone else.

It's about an hour and half from here. The Pillars of God are nearby, but not down the same road. We had a blast there yesterday. Biking is ok if you're comfortable with steep and windy mountain roads. I'll post a link to the rest of the pix once they're up.

The link was to the Pillars of God, not the temple. I tried to see if I could find it on the images, but couldn't.

Yeah, we didn't find many images of it either...look up in this thread to see a photo from this afternoon, and as I said more pix to come.
