Bike Snob LA is no more. I hope you guys are happy now!
BikeSnobLA is closed! Pretty freakin embarassing when a person can't voice their opinions without having their family threatened. I'm sure you guys are pretty proud of yourselves, yeah?
Good bye BSLA, and I would like to apologizes for the high school retards we have on this board.
Good luck and I wish the best with whatever goals you set for yourself.

What the big deal about it? It? Not sure what you are talking about. Define "it".
User101.4.09 - 2:48 pm

"it" being anywhere where I might find the reference to dude's family being threatened?
Roadblock01.4.09 - 2:55 pm

RB,
You'll have to go to the Anonymous Cyclist to read the reference. Of course he doesn't come out and say it directly, you can interpret it as you wish.
From http://anonymouscyclist.blogspot.com/
"I was never cut out to be Bike Snob LA, I see that now. I'm much more suited to be the Anonymous Cyclist. I prefer to ride alone, and have the tendency to be extremely shy. I have a family, whom I do not wish to expose to this side of my life."

The "it" reference was directed at Leetard. Twice he uses "it" without defining what "it" is.
User101.4.09 - 2:58 pm
reply
I interpret "it" as Bike Snob not wanting to expose his family to "it" not as a threat.

It was me posting about it before I read about it. It was before it closed that I read it, and it had not talked about why it closed just yet. It just seemed like some regular blog. But I wouldn't threaten someone's family over it. It makes sense now that I read it.

Sounds like he felt threatened by his family.
Kinda like if they ever find out that I ride a bike they'll disown me or even kill me.

@ Leetard,
But.... What do you mean by "it"

Doesn't "it" mean sex? Like, "Wanna do it?"

yea i definitely agree with RB. i doubt his family was threatened. i am proud, being a bikesnobnyc fan im glad he changed his name.

I am in 100% agreement with Roadblock here... The cereality of the OP was confusing and seemed a bit too accusatory for just changing a moniker of a blog.
I never had a problem with BSLA as a name, but I can understand why he would want to change it if he kept getting beef about it. That would be annoying.
Time to move along right?

Okay, so I'm not in L.A.---at the moment. Let's just say I'm on sabbatical.
But, we are the best, Hands Down!
Don't you know this? We don't need arcane messenger / nyc culture.
We ARE bike culture.
That is my opinion.

First off. I have worked with certified "retards" and without exception they are kinder and more thoughtful people than any asshat that would threaten somebody over some bike shit ... if that is indeed what happened.
Secondly, some of the high-schoolers here act more mature than some us who are old enough to have a kid in high school. So I take exception to "highschool retards" as being the problem here.
thirdly, I can't believe that somebody would even take very seriously the ruminations of somebody calling themself "bike snob". The times I read BSNY and I'd read something totally stupid i think to myself ... oh yea ... well i guess thats why he's a bike snob.
Forthly, if anybody is threatening people over posts about bicycles they need to take that shit elsewhere. Go threaten somebody who cares so you can get your ass kicked properly.
Oh well.
NY is way snobbier than LA any ... I am sure that blogger dude will be much happier with his title.

@Patrick, you're getting your asshats mixed up. I believe the guy that had the blog LA Bike Snob was the one that had his family threatened. I haven't read anything from LAFix cause I don't have an account there. So the former LABS could have threatened someone there. My reference is just what he stated on his blog. Which you can read above.^^^

BSLA was anonymous BSNYC is anonymous. BSNYC has a huge following and there is a contest that has been advertised on his blog and others to find out who he is. As far as i know no one has won and claimed the prize. Now your going to tell me that BSLA has somehow gotten his family threatened by a member of MR or LABS? Come on loser1 get real.
larsenf01.4.09 - 5:26 pm

They that's impression. We got some real insecure people on this forum and who knows about the losers on the fixie site. My guess is they're even worst. And how do you interpret what he wrote on his other site? Sure he didn't come out and directly state he was threatened, but I take it as such and I saw how immature people reacted to him.
My guess you were one of those people larsen?

Nobody here or at LA Fixed threatened anyone over this. It's a case of bad wording on my part, as far as bringing up having a family.
I just wanted to clear the air on that.
The name change wasn't motivated by fear or anything anyone said. It was motivated by indifference to what people were saying; not really the feelings of a true bike snob.

Synopsis:
A guy writes a slightly dull but harmless blog about cycling in LA. For some reason, he chooses to take the name of a caustic, controversial blogger from New York. He announces his blog on local cycling forums. Some people make fun of him, some people encourage him. For some reason, he then chooses to stop using the name of a caustic, controversial blogger from New York. Ultimately, and typically, the entire cycling community of Los Angeles is rescued from boredom-induced narcolepsy by the hilarious inability of a few midnightridazz.com posters to read or think carefully before posting. I write this synopsis, and the thread ends.
