Which one is better for you?
reply
Hm.
Ramen is very good, salty, yet very good.
Quick, and easy.
But it can't beat Clam Chowder!
Fucking ey.

Health wise.
Ramen has so much sodium.
And Hydrogenated onion powder.
eh.

I think bagged soup mix wins when you're actually bothering to use the stovetop. It makes like 3x as much soup as a can and you can throw in like a potato and stuff to make it last longer, but super cheap.

Powdered soup is best used as a burger-seasoning before BBQing.
But, then again, I'm a master of the 1/2 Acre Grill'n'Spill!!!!

i am the ramen master. it reigns supreme. if you use the flavor packets then you have no taste buds (and will overdose on NaCl).

@rbi
that ramen with tofu and green beans looks pretty damn good. what else do you add on it?
funanu02.3.09 - 8:42 pm
reply
get a crock pot.
add three cups of vegetable broth, tofu, veggies, and whatever spices you wish (mine are secret, like kfc). cook for three hours.
after the three hour mark, add two packages of ramen noodles. cook for an hour.
then eat.

and funanu, that was tofu, spinach, and baby green/yellow beans. i made a sauce from lee kum kim chili paste and honey and it didnt really work with the ramen. its something that tastes better with a stir fry.

if you get the chance, try to go to an Asian market and explore their choices of ramen. Because Top Ramen is at the BOTTOM of the ramen choices, in my opinion...
A lot of that ramen will come with flavor packets and flavored oil...and you don't have to use either to cut down on the sodium...
All canned soup is full of sodium... you might want to take a look at the supermarket for soup choices...I know that the Vons over near my work in Chatsworth has 2 for $5 options on Fridays as a promotion...
It's probably not as cheap as canned, but definitely lower in sodium...

ramen is cheap. cheap tastes great when it's as far as you can get. Aren't we in a recession? Where's the soup kitchen?
kryxtanicole02.5.09 - 10:17 am

Fuck the soup kitchen, we could all raise our own chickens and plant some simple food once the NIMBY's curl up and die from starvation.
Only reason I say this off-hand was that someone got bitched at by code-enforcement because of a dairy-goat and chickens for slaughter, not too long ago.
Luckily, the family was allowed to keep their animals and no one heard a thing after.
