Ideal, OTHER places to move to.

With me, I'll be blunt.
Anywhere there's desert and a good set of mountains in any, given direction.
Victorville's already losing that charm and I'm at that point where I'm wanting to shove off for finer waters.
Albuquerque seems to be a cool place, mainly because I've been there alot and have experienced the uniqueness of how the city seems to blend in with the Red-Clay colored, Sandia Mountains.
And the streets are quite, bike-friendly since the last time I rode through there, about 2 years ago.
So, if any of y'all had to, or just wanted to leave So Cal, where would your ideal, retreat be?

Humboldt County.
The cows there produce milk with a higher cream content than anywhere in the world: the original happy cows of California.
Moss grows on every surface, people are happy and the sky is always beautiful. The temperature varies between nice and lovely and the people are always happy.
Humboldt Bay supplies fresh seafood aplenty, and you can buy freshly boiled crabs off the side of the road when Crabby Joe raises his crab flag.
Of course, in spite of there being about a million people in the entire county the bicycle infrastructure is better than that in LA. Trust me, if this turns into the next Great Depression, I'm going there.
And if I'm right, this would be one time that I hope not to be a trendsetter.

Great Depression aside, it's all about being prepared and having an arsenal of education/training before leaving.
And yes, even though I don't smoke, Humboldt does have that rep.
