uummmmm no, in 5 years we're going to hate him even more than we do today. Some people (GOP) are just starting to come to grips with what he has done. He leaves office with a dismal approval rating of a low 30%, http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm Carter nor Clinton has not come remotely close to what this jackass has done. He leaves office being the WORST president in modern history!
Farewell indeed. I hope the bastard fares well at something once he leaves office, because he's fared pretty damned poorly at everything else he's done so far.
some clinton staffers removed the W keys from their keyboards before handing over the white house. Bush staffers subsequently claimed that the clintonites vandalized the white house, stealing furniture and silverware, breaking machinery, etc. Needless to say, they were never able to back p their accusations with documentary evidence of any kind.
I was under the impression that the w keys was true (and basically harmless), though the number of keyboards affected was greatly exaggerated. The rest was utter hooey.
yeah no it was bullshit. all bullshit. there was no proof. I believe it was Randi Rhodes who uncovered the lies. bullshit spread around by limbaugh and all those
and even if it was true...he stole the whole goddamn election who cares about a damn W key
Anybody catch the last GW address?
What a fucking joke.
He reminds me of a kid that knows he's done wrong because everybody is mad at him ... but just can't figure out what he did wrong.
He sort of admitted that he made a few mistakes.
And by way of an apology, he claimed that he always did what he thought was best for the country. But then he goes on to talk about "good" and "evil" as in me good, terrorists evil ... and on and on.
Rehashing the same old canards of his entire presidency.
Never once did he take any responsibility for the slow, inept, and ham-handed response to Katrina. Never once did he take responsibility for the foibles of inept political appointees, for the never ending list of crimes committed on his behalf either through, intent, ignorance, or sheer incompetence.
The dude has always had the world handed to him on a silver platter. Just as he was in the last class of 100% legacy acceptances that were allowed at Yale. I hope that he is the very last "legacy" president, somebody to ascends to the office only by momentum created by others and and pure self entitlement.
On a really zen day ... I can imagine this guy is 100% well meaning and hard working and really tried his very best to do what he thought was right for the US and the World.
But even so, he must have been totally delusional to think he was up to the task. He wasted most of college goofing off, had every opportunity handed to him, and botched most of those.
I know for a fact I wont agree with 100% of Obama's actions/ decisions. But I'll know that he really thought about it, got the best possible advice, and didn't rely on some miscreant wispering in his ear.
of the responses I've seen to GW's last address this is one of the better ones:
I watched it. His last press conference was even funnier. When asked about slow response to katrina he said "30,000" people were rescued right after the storm hit. That's pretty good.
No dumb ass. The fact that those 30,000 people had to be rescued and were not evacuated BEFORE the storm means that you were a chimpin ass idiot.
This is another case of rich people getting off scott free. The chimp should be hung along with cheney rumsfeld perle wolfowitz and all the war criminals that pushed us to invade Iraq and Afghanistan against our country's interests.
The press conference was a lot funnier (see the highlights reel above) this parting address was pretty creepy. It was was very controlled "on message" and clearly written by at speech writer.
This guy is so much more interesting when he is being "real".
He's so much more animated and goofy.
No american president will ever hang from the gallows.
The best we can hope for is an official finding of fact that results in a wrist slap.
Look at nixon ... i suppose people will debate who was worse ... but Nixon did tons of illegal, nefarious shit and he ultimately got away with it all.
Supposedly the Bush never left the country before being president, so the fact that he may not be able to visit Europe for fear of war crimes charges is not too big a deal for him. I'm sure he hates europe anyway.
What Bush is doing now is what seems to be the best move these days. That is to stand by your ideology regardless. Doesn't matter what the evidence or the experts say, you get the best returns by not wavering in your ideals. He has shown that through his whole presidency. Why change now?
But time and again we find that people have more respect and appreciation for a leader who can admit "i made a mistake" or "as i learned new things, I changed my mind"
Sure nobody much likes a John Kerry who can endlessly stake out "nuanced" positions that seem to contradict each other until they are explained in fine detail.
And few people can rival the dexterous rhetorical maneuvers of the chameleon-like Bill Clinton who constantly "evolved" his positions to most closely match public opinion.
But with Bush ... that guy will never cop to anything.
The closest I have ever seen him come is these last two appearances. But still he will not relent.
His brain has been so up in the spin machine for so long ... it doesn't matter what evidence is presented the MOFO will always keep repeating the same shit. He is on a different planet. Its as if he thinks that if he pretends that history went down a certain way ... thats how everybody will remember it.
Its pretty fucking robotic and scary.
Maybe its just a defense mechanism to prevent himself from going home, looking in the mirror and blowing his brains out for realizing that he is undoubtedly the worst, most incompetent presidential fuck-up in this nations' history.
