digital photo printing questions

so i need to print out some photos, trying to get them as large as possible without messing up quality.
i have no idea where to start
there's a digital photo lab around my place and they are charging around $140 for a print that is 24"X36"
is this the mean price for prints around this size???
anybody have any other suggestions?

Uhhh, I don't really have any good insight because I have free printing by Epson 3800 when I'm in school, all I have to buy is paper....
Check out A&I's prices.

yeah, ive been told to check out A&I by many people.
i mean, is the gap in quality that great?
a $7 print from costco vs $140 from a pro lab.

It wouldn't hurt to try out Costco's larger sized prints. They're pretty cheap. I've had 8x10's done and they pretty much have the best printing at those prices. Check out A&I because they might be cheaper than the place by your house. If not, then I wouldn't recommend sticking with them.

Is this for Soulsticycle? If you would have told me earlier, I could have made you prints up to 17x22. Unfortunately, tomorrow is my last day of photo class for the summer, so no more printing until August.

it is for soulsticycle
im kinda worried bc the files are not shot in raw.
i shot them as large format jpegs.
there as .psd files right now.
i wanna blow them up but im afraid that the quality might be lost and hoping that a pro lab might be able to save some of it.
im completely lost and hopeuflly will figure out all this tmorrow

I think all the pics for the MR Team at the Fly Pigeon was blown up at CostCo, and they looked mighty fine.

Costco wins price to quality ratio hands down. Both this year and last years TMR photo shows were all printed at Costco. I think they must not be making a profit on their prints in the hope you leave the store with 48 rolls of toilet paper and a new big screen TV.

if my photos are cropped, will leave a white border on edges?

for costco...do you just have to bring the photos there on a cd and they'll print them for you? how much are 8 x 10? and larger sizes?

You can upload photos to their website and pick them up at your local store.

Ugh. Membership is like $50 a year! Fuck that noise.
I go to a place called Prints Charm'n, just north of where Crank Mob used to start on Sawtelle. Their main business is headshots/movie stills, but they do it all. Good quality, quick, and not super pricey.

i went to A&I yesterday.
they were really nice and the prints they had around for samples looked great.
if you do direct to print, the matte and glossy prints are 10 bucks for 8x10.
they also have these cool metallic papers too if ur colors are super saturated and contrasty.
