LOST LACM

I was part of the lost LACM last night. We had all gotten to the meet spot near 7:30PM. We tried to desperately to find the ride, using cellphones and GPS. But by the time we got to their supposed location they were gone. The ride did not stop, it kept moving.
We searched for about an hour or so, finding a bunch of girls who had left the ride to use the bathroom and take a break.
We finally found the ride in Hollywood near Highland. They had been riding for an hour and a half without a break. People were demanding a stop but the leaders weren't having it. Finally after some guy got a ticket and another guy crashed. And the riders were getting pretty tired and grouchy the ride stopped at a Liquor store in West Hollywood.
It was an adventure but after about 20 minutes at the Liquor store everyone took off, leaving only a handful of us to continue the ride.
We just rode back to the westside from there.

Really? from all the posts, it seemed that Critical Mass was going to it's roots, a long, leaderless ride focused on riding.
Did the Mommies turn it into another pathetic liquor store parking lot "ride"?

When I first started riding LACM and SMCM, they had no stops. If you wanted to pee you had to wait 'till a hilly section or a long straight, pee quick and jump to catch up. Same with sundry stops. Only after the ride was done did we stop, catch our breath and kick back.
In hindsight, after riding tons of rides with frequent stops and too many folks that can't handle their alcohol, I'd totally welcome more rides with a ride now, party later mentality.
It does suck to have to pee for hella long though. How bouts a flipped Camel Back for your crotch.

Dude, that ticket was the most bogus bullshit I have ever seen. After all the crap people were doing all night (hello, people, please DO NOT ride into oncoming traffic, thanks!), you got a ticket for not stopping behind the white line? SUCKSAUCE x 10!

Not stopping all night is facist. People need to pee. People need to catch up. People need to talk to each other and find out what is up with their friends that got dropped.
As for the ride being leaderless that was a joke. 5 or 6 people called all the shots till everyone was so fed up with not being able to stop and piss that they immediately followed me and Drooby to the peoples ride as soon as we announced we were going to break off.

Here's two suggestions:
Drink AFTER the ride.
Have some initiative and head up to the front to lead.

@Sleepy
I did. And everyone followed straight to the peoples ride. Were yo even there?

No.
I was at home drinking beer [and consequently using the restroom at my own leisure.] watching Legend of Horror House.
It's got Roddy Mcdowell. Good movie.
I've done the earlier incarnations of Critical Mass before, and remember it being more of a ride, ending for refreshments. I've been on the newer ones, and seen the tail end of "The People's Ride" [what the hell does that mean, anyway?] which seems to be a collection of liquor store rides coupled with velocipede bullies.
So um... Yeah. Old school style Critical mass sounds a lot more interesting, merely by the virtue of it having the idea of riding a bike the central theme, as opposed to having an excuse to drink in public.

sleepy, do you even go on these ride anymore?
Seems you always have some shit to talk about the rides and the people that go on the rides on these threads.
I ain't mad at you for not coming to the rides. I'm perfectly happy with you and the majority of kitchen chief feeling superior to this, talking shit about it, and not being part of this. Just do it in your kitchen not here.

I'm not talking shit, if anything, I'm talking shit on the shit. Last night's ride sounded like a sucess, if people are bitching because there were no incessant stops going on, what does that tell you?
Hell, everytime I look here, it's some some sort of LOLcatz pollution taking place on the forum. Where's the uproar over that?
Stop being insecure.

this was the ride posting:
WE WILL END UP SOMEWHERE IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY....YOU WANT TO RIDE THRU A PART OF TOWN NOT RIDDEN OFTEN IN GROUPS? GET TO THE FRONT AND TAKE US THERE....THE WAY IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DONE.....
some people went to the front and took us places...tarsis took iniative and said she had a cool place to take us to...it was spur of the moment....no pre-planned attempt to rule the ride....i was near the front and called out a few turns....that's how critical mass rides work...

although stillline also speaks truth about how decisions where made. i was at the front and did notice others call out turns, while a collective of people would disagree and say "no, keep going straight." not so leaderless, if you ask me.
still a great ride though.
