I've been out of town, and just got back excited that I was going to be here for February's ride and I don't see anything scheduled. Tell me that's a mistake right? There's still going to be a ride.. right? RIGHT??
Next thing you know you'll be starting at Pioneer Chicken, the original eight will be there, it will be the best route ever, and all the various riff raff will be out of town. Just as well!
I don't want to be an asshole. But here goes
Somebody or somebodies decided to have a trip on the second friday of the month.
We are on the MR board and most of us met on a bike ride that happens on the second Friday fo the month.
This particualr ride happenes to be the 5 year anniversary and that wasn't really looked onto.
`
Salton trip was already rescheduled from December because it was also scheduled on a second friday, but this time it conflicted with teh All City Toy Ride.
Don;t get me wrong. I think that the trip is rad I know that it is going to be all kinds of fun for those that go.
I'm just saying. Its not bad timing, its bad planning.
There's at best 100 people going to Salton Sea. The MR rides are usually about 400 deep. Using math and numerous science facts, I have determined that we'd have a ride of about 300, misunderestimations included.
Can't someone NOT going to Salton Sea handle it? Feel free to speak up!
Props to Tarsis for doing the January's ride and Trickmilla for making All City Toy Ride happen! If I had the opportunity I would organize a ride in a heartbeat. It's exciting to do. Not many people seem to feel that way, though. I think 300+ people showing up to ride a route you collaborated with is intense. Who's the next crew to make it happen?
technically speaking the 5th anniversary ride could be in March.... since the first ride was feb 27th which was the last friday..... but if not, how about the Out of this World ride...
the last minute, unplanned, 5 year birthday extravaganza.
I tried to get the ball rolling about a month ago.
It was basically suggested that we just not have a birthday party or put it off for another month. so I said ...
(ff to 3mins)
Part of me often thinks that numbers and anniversaries are arbitrary, but I also know that I've been on 39 of the last 41 second Friday rides (not bragging, just stating).
I intend to be on February's ride, whether it is the 5th anniversary ride or not. For what it's worth I kinda think it is, if MR in fact started in February. But I think Roadblock is the one to make that call.
5th anniversary is as important as people make it... if it's not that important that that's perfectly fine. someone should throw a ride for feb though and it's pretty much the 5th anniversary so have a blast... make it intimate, let a whole new crowd have it to create their own rebirth and revolt against the "core elite" as thomas jefferson said there needs to be a revolution every 20 years, for MR it can be every ride or every 5 years.... but please... ride on!
No! The 5th anniversary is the most important thing ever in the history of all bike ride 5th anniversaries. Or maybe not, whatever.
I've sent some "crucial" "e-mails" to some "non-core-elite" and will see about arranging something. The science and mathmatical skills of SKIDMARCUS have intrigued me. Stay tuned for the most important 5th anniversary ride announcement in this history of 5th anniversary ride announcements.
I vote February has "The Drama Ride". Remember when the core-elite went to BM and all this crazy funny drama happened on the boards? Well, it'll be the same thing, only it'll be Salton Sea for a few days, and instead of the boards, it'll be a ride.
