yeah guess who got their bike stolen????
so over the weekend someone broke into my studio (in downtown on los angeles st.) and walked out with my bike.....yup went through THREE! security gates just to get in.
this morning i walk in to find one of my bikes near the elevator then walk into my studio and my shit is ransacked(cd's all over the place etc...) and my fixed geared is missing.
i am not happy.
54 cm old black IRO with a headbadge
black SLK selle italia saddle
weird italian quill stem (front has a thick gauge wire that helps clamp the bars down)
azonic riser bars with swobo grips (black)
old campagnolo headset
carbon composite fork (one of the dropouts is loose)
old campagnolo record hub with sliding oil hole laced to a silver no name shallow V rim
bianchi sealed bearing hub laced to an old mavic rim.
cant remember the cranks...think they were suntour with soma double strap pedals
old tektro bmx style black brake lever and silver tektro front brakes
yeah im not overly confident my bike will be found...but i feel so powerless and this is at least something i can do.
no fucking lesson to be learned here...three security gates! home invasion robbery! what else can i do lock my bikes in my own room???
good thing they didnt take my computer.

In this case, if you find them, take bike then stuff the offender into a food processor.
Getting the cable lock cut is one thing, but in the instance, nothing short of a shotgun blast is going to be the least amount of punishment for this infraction.

@bici
do u think they broke in JUST for the bike considering they didnt take anything else?
any idea what time this happened?

^^^^^^looks like they been casing the joint for a while cause other floors have been broken into recently and the lack of cameras may have been a reason.
cheap rent has its consequences.

i'd say a break in warrants a call to the police.
they might be able to find the perp.

so guess who got his stolen bike back!
yup wake up this morning to this post on LAFIXED saying that my bike was found locked by the toe cage with a pad lock to a fence 3 blocks from where i live!
alex (from transient bags http://www.transientbags.com/ ) saw it and thought no way! so took the cage off and brought it into the coffee shop he works at.
for some fucking reason the front skewer is missing and the rear wheel got kicked in (taco'ed)!
so its looking like it was an inside job especially since last night we caught the maintenance guy slanging shit out the front door to the local crack heads
im thinking he knew the jig was up and tried to get rid of all the shit he had stolen.
still no lesson to be found here....i guess karma pays and alex is a dope guy... go buy his bags!
thanks everyone who had their eyes peeled!

Holy shit. I'm always amazed when I hear these recovery stories.
It definitely says something good about the LA bike community.
Want a Ritchey front skewer? I switched to closed cam for disc brakes.
