I just got off the phone with Melissa McCarthy from KCAL /KCBS and she and the crew will be there at 8:00 for a live shot from the scene of the Ghost Bike!
In addition she will bring awareness to the need for bike and driver education and familiarity.
Sp lets make sure we be on our best behavior as we will have the eyes and ears of the LA community tonight on a GRAND SCALE!!

I just watched KCAL at 10:00 and didn't see ya. I think it got bumped because of the triple murder at the LA/SM border at SV and Ocean. I'll post when I see you all on CBS at 11.

They said 11 at the scene tonight for the editied Bits. They had a live feed around 9 I guess but we had all been stopped for a long time and had moved on to city hall.
Have not come out for a ride in a long time. The recent events are truly terrible and I thought it would be well worth my time to at least have my body mass showing some support tonight. Bummer about everyone who got those tickets tonight.

Bicyclist Gravely Injured In Anaheim Hit-And-Run
ANAHEIM, cALIF. (CBS) ―
This 1969 El Camino struck a bicyclist, gravely injuring him, in Anaheim. The driver fled the scene.
Authorities are scouring an Anaheim neighborhood with a bloodhound Friday night in search of a driver who fled a crash that left a bicyclist with grave injuries.
The 55-year-old bicyclist was knocked from the bike and suffered major trauma to his body and head in a crash in the 1800 block of South West Street. Both the bicyclist and driver were headed north at about 4:40 p.m.
A witness, who heard the collision, told police the 1969 El Camino that struck the bicyclist left the scene by driving north on West Street and west on Katella Avenue. The car was later found abandoned at Ninth Street and Katella Avenue, Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez said.
The driver ran into an adjacent neighborhood of single-family homes, he said.
Police had trouble tracking down the registered owner of the vehicle and finding relatives of the injured man, Martinez said.
A search began about 5 p.m. and a bloodhound was brought to the scene, Martinez said.
According to reports, a person in a black Mustang was in the area when the collision occurred. Martinez said police would like to find that person, who could provide valuable information.

I just saw the clip on CBS2 news at 11. It lasts about a minute and a half.
Opens with the anchor explaining the Ghost Bike
Mentions hundreds of cyclists near the "accident site"
There's Stephen demanding our rights to the road
Bike Lift
"Cyclists say they've put up enough Ghost Bikes and they don't want to put up anymore."
Nice work everyone!

I don't think the Live at 9 happened because the Dodgers game didn't end until 10. However, they had a graphic for the Ghost Bike, so I bet it shows up on the early and late morning news as well.

Jackie Johnson puts up a good front, you bet!
Re. the Anaheim attempted murder, West road south of D-land is wide with lots of shoulder space. No way a cyclist could have been hit there, unless the driver was toasted or the bike was way out in traffic, which is not likely.

we may have gotten press, but they will probably think twice about ever doing something like that again since some assholes on the ride decided it would be appropriate to tag the news vans while we were at the memorial. whoever the person or people were, you truly are douchebags.
