"i like a challenge. i love somebody telling me i can't do something or i'll never be able to do something - to me, i'm like, alright, let's see." Liz Hatch ... werd.
Not to denigrate her achievements as an athlete, but am I the only one who thinks it is sad that it seems more and more as though a female athlete, whether race car driver, tennis player, or cyclist, doesn't receive media buzz unless or until she appears mostly naked in a glamour photoshoot? Would Billie Jean King or Martina Navratilova find the same place in the hearts of fans today that they attained back in the day without getting naked for a magazine - or, more importantly, without being pretty enough to walk the line between object of sexual desire and athlete.
Damn, Maxim abused that poor girl. Caked her in asphalt thick enough she had to shower in turpentine. They probably figured a bike racer chick would say yes to anything just to get some mainstream attention.
@ideasculptor, I do agree and appreciate the sentiment, however I don't think women athletes need to start putting their clothes on...what is needed is for more male athletes to start taking theirs off. yes.
