it was locked up @ ocean and broadway, i was at the yard. as i was walking to my bike, some dickhead cop arrested me for drunk in public, even though all i was doing was walking to y bike, not yelling, fighting, stumbling.... he just saw me leaving the bar i guess. this is th first time i can honestly say, i wasnt doing ANYTHING wrong. he locked me up over night, and when i got out in the AM, no bike. fuckin pigs.

Fuck yes! How much does it have to be worth for it to be grand theft 1000? 2000? Say the bike is worth at least that.
@hitspotholes_ow. I remember that. Wylies derailleur went into his spokes 1 mile from the end of my first WP. only time I've seen stilline on a geared bike.

I saw this guy walking around with this purple fixie in front of Graumanns Chinese theatre on hollywood and highland. I went up to him an said "Hey Nice Bike" and he replied "Yeah wanna buy it?' "I said yeah myabe but I dont have the cash let me get your phone number and I'll call you after i go to the bank.
The guy gave me his cell number and even let me take a picture of the bike with the guys face in it.
So the guy walks off with the bike and I say i'm gonna call him in a few min when I get the money.
I called LA brakless and they immediately recognized it as hammers bike.
So i found two cops nearby and told them what was up and showed them the picture i took.
Then I called the guy and told him i had the money and to meet me at the gap on holly and highland. He walked right over and the cops snatched him up.
Then we just had to wait forever while hammer drove in traffic from the west side to come get it.

i've ran into 2 people at wilshire/vermont that i approached about their bike and they ended up trying to sell it to me. one guy even said his brother painted the frame with car paint. can we really do anything about these guys? or is it only the crack heads that don't care to paint the frame and change the components of the bike that we catch?

there's an option to send the picture to "pix place."
then go to
verizon pix place and set up an account to access and store the pictures you take from your cell phone camera.

Hey Stillline,
Your actions prove that this is STILL a bike community.
Hopefully we can keep the good vibes growing so this continues to be an interwoven community of people who share a sense of interest/ responsibility in our mutual wellbeing with a limited number of posers who are just out for kicks and would just as soon throw it all away for a $50 light a $100 bag or a $1000 bike.

These cops were really cool. They spent a long time waiting for hammer to driver in rush-hour traffic from the west-side and they didn't complain.
They had to fill out all sorts of fucking paperwork too.

I just heard a similar story. A neighbor's bike was stolen last Friday night. He reported it to the local Sheriff's Dept and they told him to check Craigslist. Today, he found an ad on Craigslist for the same kind of bike. The seller said he would send pix so my neighbor asked for them.
Yup, it was his bike so after letting the Sheriff know about it, he arranged to meet the seller at the local In 'n Out. He verified it was his bike so the kid was handcuffed. He's a 17 year old football player from the local high school. I guess he won't be in school tomorrow. It was a really nice carbon road bike but they can only charge the kid with possession of stolen property. Too bad they couldn't nail him for grand theft but he also had a prior charge so this wasn't a good day for him.
