When one of your family members is murdered, you'll be glad someone is willing to spend their time looking for the people who did it. One day, when your getting your ass beat, your bike jacked, or your home is burglarized...you'll be glad there is someone who is willing to go put their ass on the line for you or your loved one.
Some of us have been given tickets. Some of us have been arrested. Some of us have been falsely ticketed/arrested. Thats the name of the game. The bad cops will eventually get theirs...and you will always have the right to fight the charges brought against you in court.
Oh, please. Wishing does not make things so. Cop bashing threads are totally cool.
Anyway, it's not like they don't bash us. In fact, one of them bashed User 1 pretty good a couple of months ago. U1 was trying to impress this LAPD cop with the fact that he planned to post the details of his harassment on the Internet and the cop comes right back with "Oh, you can write?" Everybody was all like "aw SNAP!" Well, you kind of had to be there.
Don't worry PC, if I ever go through with that job you'd rather not want me to have, I will bet a thousand big ones that I'll still be the well known, butt-munch that makes your life more enjoyable.
I mean, without cops, there will be less thrill.
You'll no longer have that cool, yet fearful sensation of knowing you might get caught.
from a cop's prespective, i understand. and that's cool. you seem like a good cop, so kudos.
but i've dealt with racism and intimidation from police for a good part of my life. to the point where if i ever truly needed to call the cops, i don't know if i would. i just don't trust them.even if it's to save my life.
look at "tie". he was just painting minding his own business, when william porter shot him execution style. fucking cold blooded killer and nothing but a slap on the wrists.
but if someone broke into my house and i killed them in self defense, death row here i come...
On the issue of self-defense, California should really drop it's policy towards the current issue of "home-invasion".
A nice, "Make-My-Day" law would really save the courts alot of time and money.
It would also continually add to the undertaking/cremation sectors as well.
The way I see it, if some random thug's going to be breaking into your place with the intent to murder, rape, or rob, who's going to miss the suspect when they're dead and gone?
Damn, I feel like I'm being backed into a wall on this one.
So, what's the alternative?
Go out, snatch up a .44, and become Charlie Bronson?
Until something better comes up, we're stuck with what we got.
It seems all protesting is going to do is result in bottles and CS-Grenades being thrown.
Part of the reason why you'll never really find me at any political demonstrations.
Life fucking sucks balls at the moment right now.
Last thing I need to be doing is getting trampled by an odd mixture of "Hi-Tec Enforcers" and "Old School, Converse".
For now, I'm going to just keep my distance from this issue and just see how things will roll along.
Oh man, why can't they make shit like this anymore????
Right about now NWA court is in full effect.
Judge Dre presiding in the case of NWA versus the police department.
Prosecuting attourneys are MC Ren Ice Cube and Eazy muthafuckin E.
Order order order. Ice Cube take the muthafuckin stand.
Do you swear to tell the truth the whole truth
and nothin but the truth so help your black ass?
Why don't you tell everybody what the fuck you gotta say?
Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority
Fuck that shit, cuz I ain't tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell
Fuckin with me cuz I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every nigga is sellin narcotics
You'd rather see me in the pen
Then me and Lorenzo rollin in the Benzo
Beat tha police outta shape
And when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still can't swallow bread and water
I don't know if they !@#$?s or what
Search a nigga down and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
Cuz they slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop
Ice Cube will swarm
On any muthafucka in a blue uniform
Just cuz I'm from the CPT, punk police are afraid of me
A young nigga on a warpath
And when I'm finished, it's gonna be a bloodbath
Of cops, dyin in LA
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say
Fuck the police (4X)
M. C. Ren, will you please give your testimony to the jury about this fucked up incident.>
Fuck tha police and Ren said it with authority
because the niggaz on the street is a majority.
A gang, is with whoever I'm stepping
and the motherfuckin' weapon
is kept in a stash box, for the so-called law
wishin' Ren was a nigga that they never saw
Lights start flashin behind me
But they're scared of a nigga so they mace me to blind me
But that shit don't work, I just laugh
Because it gives em a hint not to step in my path
To the police I'm sayin fuck you punk
Readin my rights and shit, it's all junk
Pullin out a silly club, so you stand
With a fake assed badge and a gun in your hand
But take off the gun so you can see what's up
And we'll go at it punk, I'ma fuck you up
Make ya think I'm a kick your ass
But drop your gat, and Ren's gonna blast
I'm sneaky as fuck when it comes to crime
But I'm a smoke em now, and not next time
Smoke any muthafucka that sweats me
Or any assho that threatens me
I'm a sniper with a hell of a scope
Takin out a cop or two, they can't cope with me
The muthafuckin villian that's mad
With potential to get bad as fuck
So I'm a turn it around
Put in my clip, yo, and this is the sound
Ya, somethin like that, but it all depends on the size of the gat
Takin out a police would make my day
But a nigga like Ren don't give a fuck to say
Fuck the police (4X)
Police, open now. We have a warrant for Eazy-E's arrest.
Get down and put your hands up where I can see em.
Just shut the fuck up and get your muthafuckin ass on the floor.
[huh?]>
and tell the jury how you feel abou this bullshit.>
I'm tired of the muthafuckin jackin
Sweatin my gang while I'm chillin in the shackin
Shining tha light in my face, and for what
Maybe it's because I kick so much butt
I kick ass, or maybe cuz I blast
On a stupid assed nigga when I'm playin with the trigga
Of any Uzi or an AK
Cuz the police always got somethin stupid to say
They put up my picture with silence
Cuz my identity by itself causes violence
The E with the criminal behavior
Yeah, I'm a gansta, but still I got flavor
Without a gun and a badge, what do ya got?
A sucka in a uniform waitin to get shot,
By me, or another nigga.
and with a gat it don't matter if he's smarter or bigger
[MC Ren: Sidle him, kid, he's from the old school, fool]
And as you all know, E's here to rule
Whenever I'm rollin, keep lookin in the mirror
And there's no cue, yo, so I can hear a
Dumb muthafucka with a gun
And if I'm rollin off the 8, he'll be tha one
That I take out, and then get away
And while I'm drivin off laughin
This is what I'll say
Fuck the police (4X)
The jury has found you guilty of bein a redneck,
whitebread, chickenshit muthafucka.
Wait, that's a lie. That's a goddamn lie.
I want justice! I want justice!
Fuck you, you black muthafucka!>
There are some awesome cops out there. There are also a few bad cops. There are many more cops ignorant of bicycle law, and a good few stupid bored cops that like to fuck with people on bicycles.
I always told myself that before I put an integrated TV in my car, I would have a camera. Let's take it a step further....
WHEN YOU SEE THE COPS APPROACHING A RIDE, START VIDEOTAPING!!!
I'm lucky to live in the West LA Police Department Jurisdiction. They're pretty cool guys. When one of their own cited me in error, they openly admitted that he "lived to write tickets" and laughed about him.
EDDIEBOY had a sick camera attachment on his bike. I'm going to make one for myself, and I hope others do the same.
CAMERAS CAN ALSO ENSURE PROSECUTE RECKLESS DRIVERS!!!
If it's your word against a reckless driver, you don't stand a chance. If you bring a videotape to the cops, they can't refuse to prosecute.
adam, im going to shoot you for your misuse of commas on this board. its like youre like the kid in the wheelchair from malcolm in the middle whos always short of breath.
Somebody from Taco Tuesdays hung their bike on a street sign while we were eating at Que Rico's last night. This really aggro Culver City Cop came up and started screaming at all of us "That Sign Belongs to Me! You think you can do whatever you want?" He keeps ranting for 2min and then gets in his squad car and leaves.
20min Later we're sitting in a parking lot resting on the way back to downtown... this same fucking cop rolls up and says "What re you guys doing?"
We answer "Just resting its a long ride back."
He Looks around for a few seconds and then pulls away again. We weren't even in Culver City anymore. I guess he was just following us around and trying to get one of us to talk back to him so he could arrest/search us.
Everyone was stoned and relaxed so he didn't have much luck... was a nice ride back.
Some people on this board are very trapped in their own world, where the only thing that matters is "THIS ONE TIME...".
So a cop fucked with you once. Twice. Maybe three times...depending on how big of a dick-head you are. You'll hold the grudge against that officer (or maybe the whole law enforcement community) until the day you die. Job well done.
But remember this...while you go about your daily life hating that one officer (or all of them)...you've accomplished shit.
"THIS ONE TIME..."
(Insert everything a police officer would see/do while on duty for X amount of years)
They'll accomplish a whole lot...and you'll never know or care...because your still mad about "THIS ONE TIME".
I (and no other law enforcement EMPLOYEE) never wanted any thanks from anyone. Matter of fact, we are well aware we are not liked by many. But I'll still be at your service when you need me. No thanks required.
in my 29 years of existence i've come across 2 good cops. decent persons, then cops. the rest have been nothing but douchebags. in fact, spent a week in jail and lost my job for a supposed "battery on an officer" ticket ( i took his hands off me ) only for me to go to court and have them drop the stupid charges to what they should have been in the first place... trespassing.
Cops are always there to help.... especially if you try to ride your bike through the grove. But when a girl gets jacked for her bike by thugs downtown the cops don't show up for a long time. Way to go thanks in advance....
I don't think the people under the uniforms are inherently bastards. Well, maybe some, but that goes for the general population.
But think about it, cops gotta deal with scum bags, deadbeats, drunks, addicts, sexual deviants, wifebeaters, dumbass people that can't settle their own disputes without resorting to physical violence, pushers, pimps, pedofiles, gangbangers and just flat out psychos...EVERY sad mother 'effn day.
If that was what I had to look forward to everyday, damn...I'd be pretty strung out too and probably have little patience for people that just do dumb things but aren't really scum bags. I think we all would.
Face it, we don't live in Mayberry...it's L.A. You have to be a bastard in order to survive all that mess. That's what they're taught...maybe not in the academy...but they learn it on the job. The environment, the system, the cat and mouse game with criminals, the danger, the carnage and the senseless loss of life....it's an inevitable attitude adjustment.
What's the alternative? A police force in L.A. full of Ned Flanders?? Etiquette and decency classes?? I don't know.
I'm not apologizing for every cop out there, but I think we gotta look at the big picture....and it's a sad one.
If I saw a girl getting jacked for her bike, I would do something whether I was a cop or not. But if I'm dealing with multiple high priority calls ALL NIGHT LONG...then she is going to have to wait just like everyone else. There just aren't enough cops in LA.
I almost got killed by a reckless driver one day on my way to work. The guy followed me for almost a mile trying to start more shit. I called the police (same department I was working for at the time) and I had to wait just like everyone else. Me being LE didn't make me any more important that a regular person. I understood this and didn't get all ass hurt when the cops didn't show up until AFTER the guy was long gone.
i guess it's the fact that i've always dealt with racist confrontational police officers, so i take that to be the norm. i'm never an asshole. i just firmly exert my rights. i guess it angers them that i actually know them, me being young and of color. i've been told "you're a long way from home" plenty of times. and this just LA!
it kinda makes you chuckle but at the same time shed a tear when they tell you "you're a long way from home" and you're literally less than 10 miles away from where you live. this isn't deliverance!
Nothing is really going to change until they get rid of the code of silence. It just perpetrates a distrust of the cops and a us against them attitude.
Riding a bike? You're instantly looked at as some dumb ass that's incapable of driving a car.
You know, I'm "young and of a non-Caucasian" background myself and I almost never get that kind of treatment from any police.
The few times I have, it's because I brought it upon myself and accepted the consequences.
Rest of the time, it's like I'm invisible to them.
Oh, and el_spaniard, I've definitely taken what you said about LAPD into consideration.
I just got to find the right time and place to take the test before my mind gets clouded with, "Move to Arizona young Skywalker".
This one time, a cop made a post on an Internet forum. It was full of ridiculous assumptions about, and insulting dismissals of, people who criticize police officers. Then he spent the rest of his life wondering why some people have a preconception of cops as arrogant and ignorant.
I'm starting to wonder if I'll have to kill(kayfabe) myself here and start a new personality on the rides, should I fully decide to go through with the LE-plan?
It seems that since the advent of this and other threads that are related to it, current LEO's are frowned upon, and the rest of us remotely thinking of getting into such a career are cautiously advised.
And as for why I wanted to start working in prison?
I always felt it would be better to expose yourself to the different varieties of criminal-types behind bars and in their element, up close and personal for awhile.
That way, when you encounter them as say a, "Deputy US Marshal", you'll have a somewhat better perception of how they'll react to your actions.
Also, I mentioned that I would be seeking schooling in the near-future, but I feel book-work alone won't help me in the ever-long war between the good, and the bad.
i don't see a problem as long as you're a good cop. as much as i hate them, i understand the need for them and i respect them for putting their lives on the line. i just wished most of them had their priorities in check.
To be in law inforcement you must have control issues. Who would want to be a cop? The guy that got his lunch money stolen, or was buttfucked by there older brother. The police dept. is full of sick individuals. The LAPD is the SS. When your in custody it is all about how the arresting officer writes there report.
If you got arrested you must have done something wrong. The cops don't lie. Ya right. Remember when you make a complaint against a officer, it is the police that investigate it. The police police the police. Best thing to do is not have any contact with them. If you do get arrested keep your moulth shut, take notes, and maybe if they fuck up you can sue them later. I did and got $50,000.00
"i guess it's the fact that i've always dealt with racist confrontational police officers, so i take that to be the norm. i'm never an asshole. i just firmly exert my rights. i guess it angers them that i actually know them, me being young and of color. i've been told "you're a long way from home" plenty of times. and this just LA!"
@Coldcut
Most people don't know their rights.
"Nothing is really going to change until they get rid of the code of silence. It just perpetrates a distrust of the cops and a us against them attitude.

You get respect when you give respect."
@User1
You've said it yourself. You act like a dickhead then you get treated like one. You wanna play games then I can assure you the officer will play games and you WILL lose. Then all your dumbassary ends up quoted in a report and its game over for you.
Your formal complaint won't mean jack shit if you were acting like a douche with the officer...all your credibility out the window...not to mention you were most likely being recorded.
"Oh, and el_spaniard, I've definitely taken what you said about LAPD into consideration.
I just got to find the right time and place to take the test before my mind gets clouded with, "Move to Arizona young Skywalker"."
@bentsrider
Good for you bro. Don't just apply at LAPD. Drop your application everywhere. You can always lateral out if you don't like the department...just remember the third tier rule & getting a stigma bomb dropped on you.

@PC
You use large words...I like that. And like I said, you can hate one cop (or the whole law enforcement community) for "THIS ONE TIME" he/they messed with you or this other person you know. You can hold a grudge your whole life...and it won't mean ANYTHING. Want to make a difference? Then go reform the whole law enforcement community. Go to other countries (France or Dominican Republic) and see how they roll...then come back and criticize our methods. You'll find out the french will beat your ass faster than any american cop will and a Dominican cop will murder you and know one will care.
All the meanwhile, I can count the times (on a daily basis) that an officer saved a baby that stopped breathing, cut a guy down who'd been hanging their for a week (did you know swollen dead bodies POP when you drop them on the ground?), or caught scabies or staph because he had to wrestle some tweaker to the ground. The stories are endless. But you won't ever know or care...because your still caught up on that ONE time.
Your fancy words mean nothing to me.
And please refrain from making assumptions about my law enforcement background.
"i don't see a problem as long as you're a good cop. as much as i hate them, i understand the need for them and i respect them for putting their lives on the line. i just wished most of them had their priorities in check."

"police and fire services make up nearly 70% of the city's general fund budget and they advised that "the council and mayor's policy priorities of insulating the police and fire department budgets from budget reductions will trigger severe consequences for all other city services that comprise the remaining 30%."
You see that one video of the off duty cop beating the shit out of that bartender (a small woman) in the bar? Yeah she got a beat down cause she cut him off cause he was too fucking drunk. When the cops division founded out about, they contacted the bar and pressured them to not report it. Scaring them and all kinds of shit. I believe it happened in Minnesota. It can be tracked down.
@el spaniard,
I wasn't acting like an asshole, unless asserting your rights is acting like an asshole. Cops just want someone scared of them and clueless. That's their perfect crime suspect.
I'm mostly the type that say very little. Give them less to make notes of. Plus it does very little good to argue the case there. The office holds all the cards!
I've had some real dicks confront me too. Fortunately there were witnesses around, so nothing physical happened.
BTW, I've never filed a complaint. So I'm not sure what you're talking about. Filing a complaint with an agency you also have a complaint against seems pointless and silly. It goes nowhere and makes a good laugh for those guys. Please don't respond that "we take them seriously" BS. Save it!
@User1
Oh, and I wasn't referring to YOU. I was replying to your comment about "Give respect to get respect". It goes both ways. That was my rule when I was working. As soon as someone tried to be a cool guy...it would get ugly and my bad side would start to show. A lot of officers I knew had this rule. And I will admit some were just always being cacks. Even with their own. So don't feel special...many times those officers aren't liked by their own colleagues.
There may be a few closed-minded fucks that would look down on you or distrust you for what you do for work, but fuck them.
I judge people as individuals. And while we haven't hung that much, the general feeling form everybody that interacts with you is that you are 100% solid.
I'd rather have you out there working law enforcement then some of these other knuckleheadz who get into that line cause they have power issues.
So go ahead and do your own thing.
Some people won't like it. But if they are judging you before they know you its their loss.
The whole point of this community is that we are diverse, we have different ideas and we still respect each other and we get along.
If somebody can't deal with your career path, they are just as ignorant as any other bigot. Fuckem'
As long as you are a solid ridaa 99% of the folks here will have your back.
On the other hand, if you start driving a H2, I can't do nothin' fo ya man!
The police exist to enforce a racist/classist status quo. They may be there when you are robbed or beaten up (emphasis on may), but that is because our society has very few alternatives. They have to do some 'good' so the militarization of our communities can be justified.
There may be a few cops who are 'good', I have some ex-friends who became cops for the right reasons, but it is impossible for them to work outside of the corrupt power structure they enforce.
It's not about 'this one time', it's about why and how they exist. I've been arrested multiple times, to jail, court, etc for protests, for bike riding, for hanging with the wrong people and every single time the police lied to protect their self-interest. Every cop had a choice to join the ranks so they should no longer be judged as individuals. See note above about 'ex-friends'.
Hey, shut up, you. We save helpless kittens and stuff. Maybe if me and a couple of my partners took you to a parking lot in Vernon and kicked the living fuck out of you , you would respect us more for our selfless altruism.
Just read this article about police in Houston who falsely arrested a 12 year old black girl for being a prostitute when she was standing in her yard. 3 plain clothes cops who were looking for some white prostitutes, jumped out of a van at this girl and as she screamed for her "daddy" covered her mouth and beat the shit out of her.
After doing that they came back to her school one day and arrested her for assaulting a public servant.
Here's what I'm talking about. Even after this scumbag is made known in the department what he did, the department goes out and tries to bury the story.
So, once again I'll ask, "do most of you think your lives will be better if law-enforcement is abolished?"
Yeah, endless smoking and drinking in public will be cool for a little while, but murder will go unchecked and countless cases of pilferage will occur whether you like it or not.
Not to mention for all you thrill-seekers out there, the "thrill of getting caught" will now be largely absent.
Some things to think about.
If anything, reform and revised guidelines/departmental policies should be reviewed and put into practice where needed.
they gave my friends and i tickets last night after we left from the dtla ride. we were 1 block away from my car and they stoped us.
and after they were done with us he told his partner "theres another biker without lights lets go get them"
assholes
"meaning your group didnt have lights.. yeah you deserved that one."
i had lights but my front one died out by the end of the night.
it was one of my friends first ride so he didnt know.
and my other friends front light wasnt working.
