Critical Manners rides through the city on the second Friday of the month, but in contrast with Critical Mass, the riders obey all traffic laws, such as stopping at red lights and signaling.[37][38]
There are also conversations about starting Critical Manners in Portland Oregon[39]

After what went down during the ride through Burbank a couple weeks ago, I'm seriously contemplating springing for a grip $5 gift cards from Starbucks or someplace as an attempt of making nice with motorists who've been corked against their will.

I think chunk has a good point.
I feel that there are times where the "mass" of a ride is used as an excuse to ignore cars, but listen these are *CARS* 2000 or more pounds of metal on the road, the last thing you want is someone to become so irate that you become a target.
While I think that corking can sometime become obnoxious and iritate drivers immensely there are two things that I've noticed that I become concerned with:
First, when a large ride breaks up into smaller packs, and the back packs intentionally run red lights to catch up. On most big rides there are plenty of stops to catch up at and in reality the rear groups are no more than 2-3 minutes behind. Is that time worth a ticket or your life?
Also, on 2-3 lane roads I feel that the packs should try to stay in the right lane. There are other people trying to get places and having them pass us in opposing traffic puts a risk to us and to them.
I don't know if a "critical manners" type group will catch on in LA, but I think there are somethings that we can do as a group to make these rides fun and *safe*

I agree with e-rock.
Its really tough to cork when there are all these subgroups with empty gaps in between them. Also the lane issue is really important too. With so many rides, perhaps following some simple rules will soon not be a matter of choice.

What also needs to be done in my opinion is fill in the gaps where a motorist may try to shoot the gap. All it takes is one overly confident driver to make it an ugly scene. Filling in gaps should made conscience to all the ridazz. This by itself isn't a cure, but part of tips to make for a better and safer ride.
