Dear Friend:
I am pleased to let you know that Los Angeles will be receiving summer youth employment funding as part of the
"American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (H.R.1). This legislation, also known as the “stimulus bill,” was intended to create jobs in local communities and to benefit local communities.
The $20.3 million in federal funding will help provide jobs for 14- to 24-year-olds enrolled in programs administered by the city’s Youth Opportunity System. The program aims to employ up to 16,500 youths in full- and part-time jobs for six to eight weeks.
I am pleased that the City of Los Angeles applied for and received this funding, which will give local teens summer jobs that will give them not just summer money, but important job skills.
Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer

For all you whippersnappers out there that need and are looking for a job, take a little time and go to a Borders Book store in your area. There's a section in the magazine racks on businesses and money management. In that section there's magazines devoted to starting your own home business. Take a look at what they suggest and find something that you're interested in. I saw one magazine that had 100 of the top businesses to start at home. Some of these you need very little money to get started. I did window washing when I got out of high school. Beat the hell out of slanging coffee and I was working outdoors! Not to mention I was making a hell of alot more money! The thing is is to take a little time and search for a profession that you could start on your own. It doesn't even cost you anything to do your research! Most importantly do a great job and you'll get referrals.
