Go back to a time before the automobile or the bicycle, when California hadn't yet become a state and Los Angeles was a small town with under one thousand residents.
Meet at 9 p.m.
Ride at 10 p.m.
Meet at the intersection of Olympic and Broadway (southeast corner)
As it turns out ... I may not be riding with the Ridazz on this night because I will be DJing (some time around midnight) at L.A.s oldest industrial space. Chiparaki. The ICY LYTES will also be rocking it. Expect sweaty FUN.
You are all invited come come after/ during the ride. its free, its all night, and they won't trip if you byob or hang outside.
Its where the after-parties for the All City Toy Ride and 328 were held just north of DTLA.
if you don't know ask a ridaa.
Yeah, it's more of a fun ride. I won't be in your area to ride to the ride, I hope you find someone. If not, just know you'll see more and more bikes as you get nearer to the start. Be ready for FUNNR. It's new re-incarnation of FUN, which we killed in March.
Remember, 10-gallon hats, Stetsons, Bowlers, or any other type of head-gear featured in the photos above.
And if you're packing a Walker Colt, don't over-fill it with powder and always leave a cylinder empty.
These cumbersome, hand-cannons of the 19th century were prone to cylinders exploding and accidental discharge if slightly bumped.
If anything where are we basically headed? It would be smart to loop this ride so we dont have small packs or loners riding that late to get back home. For the same reason it is probably safer to post a route so people can know where to go in downtown... not really a place you want to get lost that late at night.
it would be more fitting if you made the start point at Olvera street. since it is where fernando de nava founded the city of nuestra señora de los angeles in 1781.
SUMMERTIME IS NIGH. UPON US IS THE EVE OF CELEBRATION. YOU SHALL ALL COWER IN FEAR BY MY RED-AND-WHITE-CHECKERED COWBOY SHIRT OF THE GODS. BUT SOON, THOU SHALL LEARN TO LOVE THY BEAST. ACCEPT THY FATE; FOR SOME IT MAY INDEED RESULT IN DEATH. BUT REMEMBER, WHILE PAIN IS TEMPORARY, GLORY IS ETERNAL!!!!
thank you for that truly inspirational pre-battle war cry, me. in unrelated words, is anyone coming from the valley? i just got done with school anyways. i was planning on taking the orange line from balboa to north hollywood, but well i don't really know about the way back. i imagine the ride is going to go on longer than the metro does run. i wouldn't necessarily mind bicycling from noho back. it's so silly having an imposed curfew it's like i'm twenty again. but man, if i get stranded in downtown i'd have no way of knowing how to get back. that would suck wouldn't it?
to any of you that are just finishing finals up now, best of luck. it required a three-day upper vacation, but my grades pulled themselves up. now is the time to celebrate.
EVERYONE IS BANNED!!!
Everyone except user "Thegirlinglass".
Why don't you guys know your way around LA!?! Don't you live here? Don't you love this city? Don't you ever ride your bike!?!?
I digress.
@Thegirlinglass
Cruss Mob is what you join after a ride ends (or before it starts). We like wine flu, staying up late, meeting strangers, riding bikes, and sticking together. We don't like going home. You are welcome to join. Also- what's up with your handle? Is it like "The Girling Ass" or "The Girlin Glass" or "Th eg irl ing lass" or "theg irlin glass" oh wait I get it...
Luglio is a little weird. He joined us the other day on Cruss Mob, but I think he's still adjusting to being in the US. I guess he heard of (or rode) MR over there. He's a nice guy though.
Some of you riders are so predictable its almost stupid.
Whether you live in LA or not, you can get lost from the pack due to repairs, helping others, and any other event that may separate you from the pack. You would like to know where the ride is headed in order to catch up. Plus you would be the most ignorant person on the forums to think only people from LA show up to the rides.
Moreover to my hardcore LA natives (who are probably only in LA via gentrification), whether you know the streets or not, only the over-confident tight jeaned hipster would think his pocket knife and U-lock were enough a defense in the event they get lost in the area.
If you want to kick around "Im from LA, I know my way, I can ride all the streets" jargon, then you're really not FROM LA.
Its like having a conversation with a kid living in the "new" Echo Park claiming how much they love it, love the scene, and love LA. When you talk to people who lived there before your retard 80's sunglasses (which werent even cool then) were in fashion, they will usually explain WHY the wanted to leave LA.
and it's "The Girl In Glass"... its a reference to one of my friend's band Himsa songs (A Girl In Glass).
And i'd love to join up with you guys, i can meet up with you guys before and after.. whatevs, i'm down for anything
You are right. Maybe a little harsh, but right.
I didn't mean it to come off that way. I meant it more as GET OUT AND SEE THE WORLD, not like I know everything, because I get lost all the time.
C'mon, I'm not that much of a "predictable" "stupid" snob rider.
Cool! What's your name? My name's Liz and you can reach me at 805 - nine nine zero - 07 five tree, but don't text! I can't send or receive them!
Wait, which CM Park you meeting at? As far as I know there is CM Park on Sawtelle and CM Park on Venice??? If it's the Venice one then I think we'll just meet you there!

nineironspitfire was laughable too. never heard the vows, but i never want/need to either. FACT: the pacific northwest sucks for music outside of poison idea, kiss it goodbye, and karp.
if you grew up in LA, why do certain neighborhoods scare you?
maybe i'm being a bit harsh because i voluntarily ran through some grimey ass spots in LA growing up, but i've learned that no matter where you're at it's all about how you interact with people. if you're just minding your own, no one's gonna fuck with you. in "wrong place at the wrong time" situations, it won't matter whether you're in a comfortable neighborhood or not, sometimes shit happens that is beyond our control.
and getting lost is the best way to learn your way around.

Okay, I have never done this before...but I'm doing it now.
I am officially staking claim to this thread.
My requirements are this:
Talk about the old west ride, unless you have something else, either important to the old westness rideness...or if you have been told by Jesus (or some other important figure) to do otherwise. I will keep to the rules, if you all will. :)
I think it's easier for some people to get lost anywhere in LA and not feel in danger. But someone who's recently moved here and lacks a bit of melanin might not be able to blend right in, and not only due to the physical, but also the language barrier they might encounter.
LA is really not that bad. There's always people out in the streets... just gotta know to stay on the main streets and not the little side streets, where a lot of shady shit can and will go down.
Redoing these rides is not that big of a deal if they just put a twist in it somewhere. For example the Star Wars ride. Take a cue from the movie industry and make it Star Wars In the Beginning, or something like that. Same thing with the Tron. Change it up and make it Tron Reboots LA, or whatever. Just change up something. Another Star Wars ride or another Tron ride by itself blows.

Shit, if I had a way to get down there tonight, I definitely would've busted out my Colt SAA!!
Not to mention I found a hobbyshop that sells some cap-firing, Colt SAA's.
Just hold your weight and look scary, al'a Lee Van Cleef!!!!!
I parted ways at Chinatown/Alameda to get back to the bus. I got lucky and it came in about five minutes. My least favorite part about these rides is making my way back home in the wee hours
...
I scared of drunks in cars.;o)
Fun night, thanks to everyone who came out, dressed up, and rode with us. Thank you Harry for the music and announcments, thank you Justin for bringing a music trailer all the way from the westside, thank you Trickmilla for the invite to Chiparaki! This ride was great!
You know, I'm going to build an effigy of myself and have it be hauled on all the rides I don't make it down to.
This way, I could implant some false memories of being there into my head.
Two sound-systems on trailers?
I wonder if there was a system duel.
No system duel. Let's make a cutout of you and record a bunch of phrases from you and we can play them through out the ride. Great idea, but we do miss the "real" you too.
