Aaalso it was awesome meeting Allan, Harry, Luis, and Kate! (And there was another guy but I dunno if we ever exchanged greetings!)
That ride was epic. I got lost like, three times!
I must be really directionally challenged *_*
Either way, it was cool. I got lost with this group of guys and we became friends and they were impressed with mah long-distance riding skillz.
WHEN DO WE DO TWO HUNDRED MILES?!

Whooo?
I think I saw that Mr Rollers mentioned checking the signage for the route.
WAS IT HIM?!

Mr. Rollers did mention that, as did Creative Thing...

I'd like to be able to say yes, but the truth is that I only posted "official" signs.

aahhhh man, I didn't even see it. Where was the sign? Is there a pic? Liz, I guess you did your century? Let's hear about how it went. I know Les got his 100 miler in right? I got such a late start, I ended up doing something over 50 miles. Was a fun day regardless.

Thank you so much : }
The sign made me really happy, especially on my first century. The bicycle has become a significant force in my life beyond merely a mode of transportation. When I was in a rough place, riding my bicycle kept me sane. The night before the ride I'd been crying because I am still not over my ex! (And it's been almost a year!) It was nice to receive encouragement on the road.
And yah, Allan, I did my century! I don't have pictures of the signs because I did not have a picture-taking device on me. The hardest part wasn't the mileage...just my directional ineptitude! I somehow got disoriented when I looped back to that pit stop in Long Beach, and the map was difficult to read at times. But I found help and the caboose to ride with and then at another pit stop, decided to ride with this group of guys. But then we ended up getting lost too and cutting back on surface streets. We brought up the rear, but it was fun to ride together, and they were impressed with my endurance (I have to credit Midnight Ridazz and my cross country/running past with that!).
I made it back to Griffith Park and it took a lot longer than I had hoped, but that's cause I'd had a rather EPIC ride meeting up with some Ridazz (What's a ride without a music trailer?!), getting lost, and making friends, which is more fun that just racing around with some of those folks in spandex. Maybe because the ride was so flat, but a hundred miles wasn't so bad really, I felt like I could ride forever. I'm about to log a thousand miles on my bike and I've only had it for like, three months!!!
(See more on
epic rides.)
Afterward my dad and I got pizza and beer and had a really interesting conversation. Then I went home and slept for twelve hours. I'm not really that sore and I didn't get any flats on the road! The only problem is tingling in my left ring and pinky finger from pressure on my ulnar nerve...but only the left hand! What can I do to help restore sensation? And to prevent this?
I have some suggestions I would like to make for the LA River Ride. There is vast room for improvement and I'd like to see it flourish. Will write that email later.
My dad insisted I take this picture >.<

I only did about 33 miles.
I rode from my home to Seal Beach, posted my signs and test road the century route between Long Beach and Seal Beach, making sure no directional signs were swiped and there were no unexpected road hazards.
I am stoaked that Liz saw her sign and got the inspiration I had hoped for.
Always remember wherever you are, others are thinking about you and sending out good vibrations!

ooohhhhh I know why I didn't see it, we didn't do the Seal Beach part after we had pizza in Belmont Shores. The Long Beach/Seal Beach part was the best part of the route. Tried to tell dos foos. That was nice of you to do that Les. I'm sure it worked for Liz.

Yah, the sign was wonderful! I saw the User1 one first and was like, "Awww" and then I saw mine and I was like, "OMIGOD!" You should have seen me grinning! I felt so loved!

Trufax, and something I need to be often reminded of these days!
Thanks again - the sign helped make my first century one to remember : }
And, of course: <3 <3 <3
