The comments of our lame assed Transportation Secretary Mary Peters plus the guy who wants to ride for the presidential candidate on that other thread gave me an idea.... What if somehow we could organize a huge cross country ride from here to Washington DC in the name of bicycle advoicacy? If we worked the internet real hard, posint on bikeforums and other huge bicycle sites, We could pick up Ridazz from all over the country on the way in the name of stating our cause and want for more dollazz to be dedicated to bicycle infrastructure... like the Million Ridazz Ride? We hit DC in the summer of 08. Ride to the Capitol building and stink up the place in the name of bicycles..... ha. what a dream.... could it happen?

I don't know if you thought of it in this way. Not everybody is going to be able to go accross the country. Some people can only ride in city, or from city to city, or location to locations. You could have different sets of riders always riding along the route, even if everybody couldn't make it to DC. It could be like the riding with Olympic torches.
From area to area
You could also swarm DC from different places, say some start in Seattle, some in San Diego and points in between heading East.
Riders from the south could be heading north to the Pentagram called DC. This way, everybody from all over the country, could participate.
Of course, Big Bike Dan sets the pace. The drunkest rider, handles the wireless mic, to let everybody know what we are doing, and entertain the other riders.
One important question. Do you have to dress in your nicest business attire for this ride. We don't want to look like a bunch of sloppy hippie, or bicyclist, or worse, like everyday people
Seriously, this will take off like wildfire, just get the word out and people will really want to participate.
I believe there is an association for bike shops, we should share this with them, to get them to promote it in there shops. We could go to the trade show in Vegas to promote. Yee Haa, another reason to go to Vegas.
