From the LACBC:
To all LACBC members and supporters: We need you!
WHAT: LA City Council Transportation Committee will be having a meeting dedicated to bicycle issues
WHEN: Wednesday, June 17th, 8am. Arrive at 7:45am.
WHERE: LA City Hall, 200 N. Spring St. Room 1050
The three most important issues are:
1) LA BIKE PLAN- make some specific public comments about the Bike Plan. Go to www.labikeplan.org for more info
2) LAPD report related to the incidents between motorists and cyclists (related to the incident where the Hummer ran over cyclists)
3) LA Bike License Revival- make public comments to oppose this ineffective and unnecessary proposal
Other items are listed here: http://la.streetsblog.org/2009/06/12/early-wednesday-morning-transportation-committee-has-full-bike-agenda/
Show up at 7:45am to ensure that you get to make public comments. Even if you can talk about your experience as a cyclist, the more diverse and united voices the better. Even if you just want to check it out, please come!

I would really like to talk to them about the issue of Hit & Run Motorists this shit is getting out of control.

RB,
I'll meet you at City Hall.
1) They have not released the Bike Plan. It's dead, all we have is some lame maps. No more reports, call it DOA and take it from the Department of No! and put it in the hands of those who seek to advance cycling in LA. (Planning)
2) The LAPD report includes having the Hummer file on hand AND a report on LAPD training on the rules and regs for cyclists or it is NOT a responsive report. (just like last time)
3) Anything else on the agenda is simply noise and not the good kind.
This meeting BETTER have a Bike Plan to pass out and a REPORT from the LAPD on how they are going to train the department on cycling rules and regs for LAPD or the meeting is a failure.
Be prepared to call this meeting a FAILURE if it does not meet the simple minimum.
Bike Plan and LAPD accountability!

How long is the public comment portion?

see you there!
I would like to bring up the gaping loophole that makes it more beneficial for drunk drivers to hit and run cyclists and peds than to stay and "man up" for their crime. is this the appropriate place to say something?

Will we be allowed 2 min. or 1 min. for public comment? Would be good to know ahead of time in order to prepare our comments.
I'll see you guys at Shitty Hall in the morning.

Greul and Rosenthol seem pretty open to our suggestions. I remember a recent meeting with Parks and he was alternatly nodding off and punching his blackberry.
Big group here!
Umbrayj representin' with baby in tow - great prop!

Parks, labonge, alarcon, and LAPD are all M.I.A. (and that doesn't mean they can spit wicked rhymes over leftfield electro-beats).
