question about road rage

so last night on the full moon cruise (here in austin) someone in a red toyota went road rage on everyones ass. he clipped the guy in front of me who fell to the ground immediately (causing a few other collisions) then sped up to the front and swerved his car so as to clip another cyclist who took a pretty harsh spill as well. luckily, or so we thought, there happened to be a police officer near by who we flagged down. he caught up to the car and gave him a field sobriety test which he passed then sent him on his merry way! even after our police chief had stated last january that if there were witnesses to vehicular assault the person would be ticketed... does anyone have some advice on how to handle this? i know y'all had a march on city hall recently, whats a good way to orchestrate that?

i had no personal interaction with the officer, i would think they would have at least made him aware of it though. im trying to find more details, but not getting responses. i want to do something about this now

I want to see this guy try that in one of the smaller towns out there.
He'll fall into the right speed trap and get the ass-chewing/beating he deserves.

I would be filling police reports in regards to a traffic accident witnessed or involved in. As long ridazz are going to be marginalized, this type of treatment will persist. The only way to change it, is change perception. You change it by making alot of noise and pushing for better treatment.
This dude was involved in a traffic accident. Sounds like he left the scene of the accident too. Was there any injuries? That's a heavier penalty to pay. At the very least, he should be hauled into court for damages.

Similar in many ways to the "Hummer Incident."
If he hit some ridazz and you can track down his license plate, you can go after his insurance, even if the police are being totally inept.
But yeah,
Document and organize everything.
Send a copy to the cops
Send a copy top the DA
and
Send a copy to the press

yes he did try and leave the scene, and the cops didn't even ticket him for that...not so much as a slap on the wrist. thanks you so much for all the help, i'm trying to get the ball rolling on this immediately

A hit and run is pretty illegal.....did you get the cops info I'd file a complaint with the police dept if I were you.
A friend of mine is a messenger in Chicago where a hit and run = a u-lock through the passenger window.
Not really an option with a cop around, (nor a good response to road rage, probably a way to get yourself killed)....but its something to think about.

Dammit, that got my blood boiling.
Yesterday in the afternoon I was riding home for my lunch and some jackass in a BMW convertible yelled at me to get on the sidewalk? When it was a chill residential street and there was more than adequate passing room? When I refused to comply, he got up close behind me and passed aggressively, yelling at me and shit. So I got the plates and called the cops, who asked for a full description. I don't know what happened, but I hope they took it seriously, especially since I sound like such a little girl on the phone >.<
Good luck pursuing justice. You absolutely should file complaints and let the news know.
