Mega Powder Coating in El Monte is about as cheap as it gets. $60 to sandblast/powdercoat a frame and fork. They will do smaller parts as well, but they prefer to do a group of them in the same color, as $60 is about their minimum powdercoat job.

Yeah, it's pretty good, and if you're not happy with it, they'll redo it. For $60, it's hard to beat. I'm pretty pleased with the job they did on my pink bike.

Mega Powder Coating is actually in South El Monte...just around the corner from mi casa.

the more expensive way to go is to take it in to Orange 20 (you can take the bike apart across the street at the kitchen or have them do it).
O20 sends to Olympic ... I think they get a little deal so the price is about the same as what olympic charges.
Olympic is supposed to be top notch i've seen a lot of frames from them on the road and they always look good, even a year out.

Advice for anyone who want to powder coat their frames. Take frame completely apart. Parts that are usually missed are:
Head badges (pop the rivets from inside the headtube)
Cable guides (bottom of BB)
Kickstands (special tool)
Chrome cap on the fork
Crown race on fork (special tool or be careful)
Waterbottle screws
Headset - Headtube race (top and bottom) (special tool)
Bottom bracket cups (left and right)
When you get your frames back from the powder coaters. (VERY IMPORTANT)
Chase and face the bottom bracket (special tool but sometimes a razor blade to face and a dremel with wire attachment to chase will work).
Face the headtube - special tool but a razor blade will work.
Facing is removing the paint and preparing the surface (edge of headset and BB) so the cups/race will sit flush/snugly.
Chasing is preparing the threads (BB) so the cups will screw in easily.
Doing these fairly easy steps will ensure a good powdercoat, easy assembly, and no problems down the road.

I've used Olympic once. They are a good shop. They coat a lot of bike frames so they know what they are doing. They masked the bike correctly so I didn't have to spend a lot of time shasing powdercoat out of the BB shell or the seat-tube
The $60 color selection is ok but if you want a non-primary color you will pay more.
They did a good job sandblasting my old road frame and the powdercoat is pretty tuff stuff even though they only did a single coat.
I have heard of other shops that do a double coat for the same price though I havent used any of them.
Powdercoating is definently stronger than paint. I haven't had many problems with chipping or scratches and I'm not very nice to my bikes, so I think it's worth the money.

I've like Olympic Powdercoating myself. I've taken over 50 frames to them last year. The work is very consistent especially for bikes. They do so many bikes, the post powdercoating work is minimal.

It's included at Mega, and I believe elsewhere as well.
Is Olympic really doing powdercoat for $60? That would be awesome.

I recently had a frame & fork done at Olympic, it was $92 including sandblasting. I will say that they do an excellent job and from what I understand, that is actually two coats - a color and a clear. Also, very little post-powder coat cleanup is required because they are careful about not getting powder where it doesn't belong.

Only if you're Specialized and charging $600-800.

The clear is powder also. It says on their samples and the order "[color] and clear". I don't know if it's twice baked or if they put the color on, then the clear and then bake it. Very glossy and tough, but not too thick when done.

Here's a tip for pressing the headset if you don't have access to a headset tool. Use a all thread rod, a couple of washers and a couple of nuts. that's right I said a couple of nuts.
