Next weekend saturday or a sunday in the morning maybe 9am a mission from the Valley to the LBC ending up at belmont shores. and few stops on the way of course. final route not yet planned but we r going thur Watt for the towers and Southgate and bellflower are the only for sure hoods we r going thur, here is my first run at the route http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2989170
We can meet up on victory and haskell or at the NOHO redline station to start the mission.
We will not be riding back so bring at least 1.25 for the metro lines(blue, red) back to NOho.
and all the other stuff u may need.
let me know if any one is interested and has a stop they would like to hit on the mission to the LBC.
so far just me and mattspeed

It's a buck 25 for each train you ride.
Bring 2.50.
Its a ticket if you're caught w/o a valid pass.
Ask Junu about it.
This ride sounds epic.
I live near the LBC, so maybe I can meet you along the route.

i thought for the 1 hour that ticket was good for each train in that hour
or
has that changed?

I was just thinking... NoHo to LBC. that's somewhere between 50 to 60 miles. is it gonna be a chill ride or a hustle. if a chil ride its gonna be a loooong day. if a hustle its gonna be a nice 2 1/2 to 3 hours

I always got to the valley or anywhere on the redline with one tix. Of course ur mileage may vary if ur ashon.
BTW, you may want to take LB Blvd rather than Redondo, or not. Also there's a Von's if that's what you're wanting to hit up at the end of your ride.
von's
I'd jump on this, but I'm gona do that walk posted.

The ride distance will be more like 40 miles.
The bottom section of the front of a one-way metro rail ticket reads:
"Valid on one metro rail line for one-way travel away from this station"
The ticket is good for 2 hours after you buy it, so it is possible to get off at a stop and reboard the same line within that time period, as long as you are still traveling away from the start station.
If you switch trains, you have to pony up another 5 quarters.
That said, in 3 years of moderate riding, I have been asked to show my ticket less than 5 times.
Pays your monies and takes your chances.

Call up the MTA and they tell you this:
Every time you board a train, you must obtain a ticket. You cannot buy one ticket in Long Beach, then transfer to a Red Line train on 7th street without buying another ticket.
Fare evasion is a $250 ticket and illegal....so spend the extra $1.25 and follow the law.
MTA also said that frequent fare evaders can be banned from riding on the trains altogether. We don't want that.
skd07.13.09 - 12:52 pm

You can also buy a $5.00 all day pass. It is good for unlimited train or bus rides all day.
skd07.13.09 - 12:54 pm
reply
no need for guns, thugs aint up till 1pm.
plan on being thou the bad areas way before that.
as for the train thing yes everyone just bring 5 bucks to buy a day pass to avoid a 250 fine.
OH YEAH, lets avoid yelling at anyone who says shit in hood like areas and we should all be good n safe.

Fucking mta. You know we are fuct when they design projects to make maximum money and not to make things as easy as possible for everyone. Like why didnt they just have the blue line go to union station instead of two stops away forceing you to have to by a day pass.

It was probably under three hours of riding time to get to long beach, and an hour to figure out we had the right tool to take off thundercunts tire. Took us 3:18:32 to right to long beach and then up to downey (52.28 miles)
