I've seen several people posted their bike was stolen.
Here I found some info how to lock you bike properly. I didn't know this either.
Hope it would help.

actually, those methods aren't great at all.
anything relying on the cable lock to keep your bike attached to the a bike rack/rail is a terrible idea.
here's a better link.

it's best to use 2 u-locks, one for each wheel. if you're going to risk carrying on 1 u-lock, and a cable, use the sheldon brown method, and loop your cable through the front wheel and into your 1 -ulock.
if you have some expensive aerospoke rims, you probably need to get the fuggedabout it chain and use that on both wheels and the frame.

these pics don't look right
whatever happened with just carrying two u locks?
ulock one:
lock front wheel and frame to post
ulock two:
lock back wheel to frame
fucking done and done.
did that really need a tutorial?

Way better method... I can't afford another u-lock right now though, so I just detach my front him and lock it with the pole too.

i think this example is annoying me.
it's like i spent $50+ bucks on a kryptonite + cable lock combo and i'm going to make the u-lock completely worthless by not locking it to the bike at all. i dunno, make me suspect that the blogger doesn't want to scratch the expensive bike or something.

His biggest fashion faux pas was using an aerospoke wheel in the front. Everyone knows the hot trend today is the aerospoke in the back. BTW, matching aerospoke wheels is by far the worst out the three options.

on a side note, why do people ride Cinelli Vigorelli's in the street?
i'll probably steel that shit myself if i see it locked up like that.

Stryker...
Appreciate looking out on locking bikes but I don't know if this guys blog would benefit anyone. The 1st/2nd pic would be the most helpful but the main thing is that this guy is using a cable lock... especially for the last one's. No more than 10 sec with a bolt cutter... this guys bike is gone.

haha wow worst lock job ever. But I guess that kind of idiocy is to be expected from someone who rocks risers + aerospokes

I saw a an old school schwinn world sport road bike ulocked in westwood village. They had cabled the front tire, which had been cut and hence the wheel was gone. I did not understand why the rear wheel was still there (with quick release!) though maybe it takes a little more time to steal than the front ? But anyway.. I wish they sold a cheaper maybe smaller ulock just for locking wheels. And don't get me started on the price of good lights..
