What I like about riding is a free good time! Dressing up, meeting people, unexpected adventures, exercise, NEVER WORRYING ABOUT PARKING.

What I like about riding is that when in use in the right environment with the right people, it can release enough serotonin for my brain to be happy with a a few months.

I like that every time I see a cyclist approaching in the distance, the first thing that pops into my mind is the possibility that it's someone I know.

I like late night solo rides into unknown territory. The fact that you can just look at a map at any time and decide "I want to go there" is both unremarkable and amazing. There's a freedom that you get from riding that's hard to pin down. It's the freedom of 4am in unfamiliar surroundings, knowing that no one else is seeing what you're seeing right now, as if the lights of the city are shining just for you. Freedom like that.

Despite all the shit I rant about, there's still something special about riding on a night, or a day in the desert when the WIND IS NOT BLOWING.
In the absence of that deafening howl, the goodness of this, otherwise, bland area comes to the surface and I'll do everything in my power to take advantage of it.

what I like about riding my bike is when it's really cold outside you just need to ride hard for a few minutes to feel warm and on the flipside if it's really hot out, the breeze from movement keeps you slightly cooler than walking..you just need a big bottle of water for when you stop.

Actually, though, last night at mile seventy or so (right before I decided I had had enough riding for the night), we were at that Ralph's out by Moustache Bridge and got some croissants fresh from the oven. The smell drew us all over to them. Lordy! Grocery store croissants are usually just about the worst things ever, but those last night tasted like heaven.

I catch myself feeling on another plane at stoplights in front of cars when I'm going to work. Breathing the air, sweating lightly, feeling the breeze, flexing muscles, singing James Brown very loudly, eased consciousness, clear mind, feeling smart and sexy.

I like when you're riding hard and pushing yourself and you reach the point where your tired and you want to stop or atleast slow down.Then the right song comes up on your playlist and the beat makes legs pump and before you know it your speeding down the road again.

I like riding my bike today through those speed radars in residential neighborhoods through Torrance to find out I ride at 30 mph on a 25 mph school zone.

I like raising my arms in the air knowing I increased my speed through the Torrance Traffic Speed Doppler Radar from 30 mph yesterday to 33 mph today.
Try it out on 235th street close to the intersection on 235th and Arlington Ave before the Torrance PD takes it away and moves it to some shitty busy street... like Hawthorne.
Tomorrow. I'm hauling ass to go 40mph. Cameras ready and all.
I'm curious if Torrance PD has taken photos of me riding it in circles.

What I love about riding is the fluidity of motion. The intense amount of spacial awareness allows you to execute maneuvers that would normally get you killed if tried behind the wheel of a bulky car. Having this ability makes every ride into mind game of planning out the best/ most fun path to take—which are much more plenteous than if you were in a car. Also, the ability to break away from the main streets and take new back road adventures.
What I love about riding with groups is the synchronicity of it all. If you're with a good group, everyone calls out their turns, holds their lines, yet still flows with the pace of a raging river.
What I love about riding down hills is the sound of the wind ripping past your ears. Oooh, and it's really fun when the light at the bottom of the hill remains green, allowing you to just blow on through and enjoy the G-force high a bit longer.

It's been really hard for me to make friends up here due to that reason.
If 80% of the desert people I run into think you're impeded due to not owning a car, then why even bother talking to them.
I'll try to talk to a few people about how I get around and then move on to some other topic.
They still find my mode of transport disturbing.

I like the way that a bicycle becomes a kind of license to wander. You circle the block a few times on foot and some people start to look at you a little funny. You do it in a car and they might call the cops. You do it on a bike and they hardly raise an eyebrow.
OK, fine, that's not totally true. Some people might still look at you a little funny, but they were probably looking at you funny to begin with. It's like wearing a cape. You're so out of place that you belong everywhere.
