Can you believe it! This town is alive with bike culture. Where to go ,what to do. I usually do Sins'N Sprockets this night, but good news--2 rides in the Valley tonight. I'll be at the Tour de Franzia, it is closest to my neighborhood.

I think it is important for the people who live in the outline areas, to start bringing the rides to our own neighborhood, and give the folks locally a taste of the bike love. I suggest if you have a ride close to where you live, you do the same. Great stuff happening for everybody, doing variety of different types of rides.

Have fun and leave the BS in the gutterz. See you on the streets

Even in the neighboring communities, cycling is making a comeback. Over the past 2 years, I've been organizing/supporting rides in the North OC and Pomona Valley area. Usually we'll get around a dozen people, most of whom are people I ride with already. Now, you post a ride in this forum or bikeboom and you have a several dozen people show up, most of whom I've never seen before.

I'm happy to have choices, it is now possible for me to ride almost everyday during the week without driving to the city. There seems to be a new ride almost every week.

I was talking to a mountain bike pioneer, who said that the urban bike scene reminded him of mountain biking in it's infancy. The camaraderie, socializing and simple joy of riding. I hope this community will continue to grow beyond the fad phase.

I usually make it a point to attend rides in my local neighborhood, if for no other reason than to support the concept of local rides, but life got in the way with a ride last friday nite.

So how was the "Tour de Franzia" ?

I think that guy was right. I was thinking the same thing, I'm no mtn bike pioneer but I started riding mtn bikes back when people were fun and had personalities instead of the typical unsmiling serious folks I see on the trail now.

Much of the same could be said for the roadies I encounter during the daytime.
None of them really like to talk much and are quite irritable when asking them things like, "what kind of frame is that?"
Hell, my one of my friends was flipped off by a roadie when he was just looking at his frame.
Needless to say, this is one of the many reasons I prefer MR-related events and rides.
Coolest bunches of people to ride and hang out with.
And they actively encourage others when on the streets!!
