Wow..just WOW! I arrived at the bottom of Hummingbird trail at 7:45am this morning, (Simi Valley, CA) and set out to ride (my mountain unicycle) all the way to the top and drop back in. I hooked up with a cool hiker who was more than happy to hang with me and he also used my camera to film me on the way back down.
After that ride, I met 2 more hikers who joined me for a ride down Stage coach, aka, "Devil's Slide", which isn't far from Hummingbird.
I was able to get more cool footage, including some great "Uni-cable-cam" shots! This was tricky since there aren't many trees to tie to, so I brought a couple steel stakes and a small hammer, so I had something to attach the two cable ends. This was really the first technical riding I've done using my cable cam, and I'm pretty happy about how it came out! :thumb:
So here's the video, and I hope you enjoy it! The video quality will improve once it's fully processed.
Awesome video! You're videos are always well put together. I can tell alot of work goes into making them. I really love the Uni-cable-cam, cool effect.
i ran into some unicyclist on Sullivan Canyon earlier this year (you?)... i still think its pretty nuts because of the fact you cant really get off your seat... kind of like fixed mtb in that regard... you just bang your ass on the saddle
That has to hurt your nuts at the end of a ride....
Thanks for that. I do take time trying to get the best shot, framing it right, then going through all the clips and it's like piecing together a puzzle!
I've rode Sullivan canyon more than 300 times..before they bulldozed it! Riding is not painful at all. The high volume tire acts like a spring and absorbs a tremendous amount of impact and rough terrain. And when doing drops, jumps and stuff like that, I'm never sitting on the saddle, but rather standing on the pedals and off the seat.
thats what it looked like... but I imagined on some of those drops you either have a really strong left-arm at the end of the day, or your hitting the seat...
either way,, im impressed... thats skill...
What matters though: Does it get you the girls??
I thnk theres potential... have you seen "Man On Wire"... after he completed his twin towers act... the girls threw themselves on him...
Think big dude... think big

Actually, I only get some back pain now & then, especially the day after doing a ride where I did some biggish drops. But I always try to roll out of every drop to distribute the impact and the tire really absorbs a lot so it's really not too bad. Believe me, if there was any contact with my "boys" I wouldn't last 5 minutes, lol!

That's been talked about a lot in the uni-community, but it never really took off. I get all the suspension I need from the high volume tire and my legs, lol. Other than that, the MUni needs to be rigid for the type of trail riding I do.
It really becomes an 'extension' of your body and responds to the slightest move, or almost just a thought! It's an incredible core workout as well, as you can't ever coast, and no gears to help you to climb.
But it's also very addicting and when I finish each ride, no matter how tired and worn out I may feel, I can't wait to get out and do it again!
