Steel Frame + Aluminum Seatpost + rain (i used to live somewhere rainy) = metal matrimony
methods used, in order
brute force
penetrating oil
brute force
penetrating oil
dry ice
brute force
more dry ice
brute force
removed bottom bracket, poured ammonia down seat tube and soaked over night
brute force
penetrating oil
brute force (pipe wrench, vise)
sawed off seatpost above frame, sawed slit & tried too early to collapse post
soaked in ammonia overnight
brute force
back to sawing slit
penetrating oil
finally got it to start rotating and hammered it out by getting a flathead screwdriver into the metal and hammering it up and out
you know the moral of the story. i was very close to soaking the thing in drano for a week to eat the aluminum...

What did you use for a penetrating oil? I read that peeps seem to like
PB Penetrating Catalyst. My seat post is stuck, and I'm not looking forward to working on it. I wana get a replacement before I tackle it. You use an old seat post for the brute force part? Any sites that was of help? Any tips other than grease the post?
