THE RISE OF THE DEAD RIDE
Thread started by

Here we will discuss the fine details of this momentous occasion.
Basically the concept for this ride has evolved from the dream of accomplishing
this very possible task in the most meaningful and impactive manner possible. As the days move along, there seems to be more and more relevance for such a display of reverence and the celebration of UNITY at so many levels that can only have been birthed here in our City of Angels.
Here are the other associated links to bring everyone up to speed:

First for discussion is the topic of Visible Anonymity.
Visible anonymity means just like the night before this ride, we will ride sans our own identities and represent those who have passed on with either the customary face paints associated with El Dia de Los Muertos, or a mask of someone who has died. Here are a few examples:
Another neat detail about this ride is that you can take home a piece of it by DONATING to a slew of different organizations who are involved in this project, granted that list is not yet complete, so any organization interested in participating is encouraged to contact me ASAP.
After all is said and done, we will release The Book of the Dead. This is still in development and open for suggestions. It will be a beautiful momento.
Lastly for this update, although we have a good amount of people already on board for this, if there is anyone who would like to volunteer to help in any way, please do not hesitate to ask ASAP.
The main focus of this whole thing is UNITY and REVERENCE while having more fun than anyone else!
Let's make the dead rise.

Altogether from the Pierce College Orange Line stop the ride is about 4.5 miles with the tail end passing through a beautiful annual festival for El Dia de Los Muertos.
The main, uninterrupted stretch is exactly 2 miles distance.

I want to go on this ride solely so I can paint myself up like a Dia del los Muertos skeleton.

I believe so. I don't know the full details, but I vaguely remember that it is about a week after the Rise of the Dead. I still haven't found any kind of event info on that one, but I would really like to work with them.

HERE's the link to the thread for
La Noche de Los Biciclistas Muertos , I just can't find where or when. Any ride details would be great!
Also, my idea to link us together was since chronologically the Rise of the Dead falls before La Noche, and the sun sets before night falls, anyone who obtains the spoke card from the Rise of the Dead will get a nice set of perks:
- Something special at La Noche de Los Biciclistas Muertos, probably involving cerveza.
- The ability to forever leave their mark and engrave their name into the
the Book of the Dead
- More to come?

I guess they haven't posted it yet, in fact I haven't seen Raymond in a while, but I see Dee occasionally. Contact Dee of Sins & Sprockets.

Something specific I need is some statistics on how many ghost bikes our community has had the regrettable task of creating this year and in years past. Also, if anyone has a list of the locations of all known ghost bikes, that would be very helpful as well.

There has been several ghost bikes put up over the years. The first one we did was
HARVEY HETLAND. Surprisingly I believe this one is still up. The others have been taken away. There was one on La Brea and Fountain where two people lost their lives waiting to cross the road. They were victims of a car collision. Another was at Glendale under Sunset. And yet another was in the valley close to Atomic Cycle. Katie is working on that one out in Malibu.

Gracias Senor Flores

"Whether you will be able to attend or not, have a good and safe holiday this weekend!
If you find you are not too hungover and will be able to RiSE with us, feel free to come out this way early and enjoy the festival before the finale on wheels begins it's procession. After a reasonably long pause at the end of it, I have arranged for an escort to usher everyone on a pleasant ride back across the valley to North Hollywood where you will be able to catch the necessary transit to your final destination.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone in advance for all their time, support, and belief in this cause.
My friends it is finally here. Let's RiSE!"

Though we rode off a bit later than I was hoping, the dead did RiSE quite high on Sunday night. It was an honor to ride with all of you. There is a lot of static where I'm at right now, but stay tuned.
