MOSEY.
I see why Roadblock would take offense to Hustle being used in the rides... but the word MOSEY is even less common than that word in the biking community.
Discuss amongst yourselves you little elves.

mo路sey (mz)
intr.v. mo路seyed, mo路sey路ing, mo路seys Informal
1. To move in a leisurely, relaxed way; saunter:
steph gave the ok for the ride. as far as i know she was flattered that someone wanted to continue the mosey with their own "tribute" ride. This thread is the exact reason the ride was not posted on the site though. ride leaders knew that someone who regularly rides the mosey would make a comment without knowing the whole story. That is something undesired because this ride will be about straight trillin, no drama allowed. it meets at the CVS next to bikerowave (centinela at venice) at 9:30 wednesday nights. this first one, tomorrow, will be short mosey through the westside, 15 miles.

I come from a background (early 90's) where regardless of what you think-- biting is biting.
growing up, you "tended" to see upper class peeps, biting pretty bad... and though nothing could stop it, you tended to feel a little bit robbed in a sense.
It happens all over and to degrees. White kids steal black styles, big companies take urban styles and create *ahem* Urban Outfitters, so kids with money can be told (shown) what is cool, rather than creating their style.... which, *ahem* was/is usually started in impoverished areas.
Point:
I still think biting is biting. You cant take someone elses name, or bite off it... Usually if it wasnt certain who had the name or variation of it, first... then you battled... winner takes name.
So, I propose either a bike race with chains and whips.
or
Just come up with you own fucking name (fuck this "i got permission shit"-- thats so stupid). Use the brain you have to put letters and words together.

I agree. If it was approved, then they should have posted it on MR and said it was blessed by the OG organizers. But seems kinda shady that I heard it from someone at dtla polo and then some random facebook link shows up in a thread. I thought the idea of MR was to be open and non-exclusive. If Westside Mosey (WSM) wanted people to embrace the ride they should have just posted it.

If the name doesn't make a difference, then why call it the Mosey? Talking about a ride that is not posted here is lame, kinda like robotz and the other rides whose pics just show up on our gallery after the fact. There will always only be one Mosey. Will there be two routes decided on betwen the east and west like the last Robotz ride? That was a below average moment...kinda disheartening to see half the group ride away under the pretext of west vs. east...

I if can reply to what the thread was originally about...
Jonnyboy asked my stamp of approval as a courtesy, and I thought it stupid to be petty about it since the word "Mosey" is not exclusively mine, and the spirit of the Mosey is one that should be shared with as many ridazz as possible. The Chill Chinatown Mosey is already perfectly preserved in our memories, and that memory is not threatened by the existence of this ride. Personally, I don't understand the motivation to use the word in their ride name since many will construe it as a tribute ride/ rip-off ride/ whatever. But that doesn't mean that it shouldn't exist.
From what he's said, Jonnyboy has put a lot of planning in to bringing the Westside a weekly, chill ride. I think we can all agree that this is something the Westside needs. He wants to keep the associations with the word "Mosey" in LA positive ones. Their ride will never touch the original Mosey, as our ride was made by the amazing ridazz that showed up every week. But in its own way there is no reason it can't be a good thing. The Westside Mosey is just one more opportunity for people to ride their bikes, and that definitely IS a good thing.
