Cerritos & St. Alban in Cypress, 90630.
December 2008.
Jackass kid speeds up to get ahead of me then turns right directly in front of me.
I got a ride to the emergency room and a $6,000 bill.
His insurance company (Mercury) paid my bills but nada for pain & suffering.
Always, always get a lawyer when you are hit by a car.
The bastard insurance companies will grind you down and screw you over.

That's the easy part. Reading the details of each point plotted rises the temperature of boiling blood.

The name of the map may need updating.
An accident is a specific, identifiable, unexpected, unusual and unintended external action which occurs in a particular time and place, without apparent or deliberate cause but with marked effects.
Many of the incidents listed have apparent and deliberate causes. By describing a car hitting a bicyclist as an accident, you're minimizing the personal responsibility of the driver. An accident implies no one is at fault.

1 block east of Reseda on Ventura Blvd.
September 17, 2008
Driver turned left across my path (from a driveway) as I was going down Ventura. She never even looked left while making the turn. My bike was destroyed, my wrist was broken, and I had a ton of bruising. My helmet saved my life though- I went through her window head first, but we had to figure that out later from the damage to the car, since I didn't feel a thing.
I second always getting a lawyer. She was also on Mercury, but they paid for $5000 in medical bills and a bit more for property damage and pain & suffering.

I approve of this sentiment. Maybe Traffic Collisions Between Cyclists and Motor Vehicles would be more appropriate?
