ahhhh is confetti really a good idea?

One thing to keep in mind is to leave anything that in a glass bottle at home. That shit gets heavy when you're considering the trash generated. Leave glass bottles at home if possible. Keep extra packaging at home. Cardboard can be burned but better to just don't bring it.

Keep tabs of your trash. Smash the beer cans so they take up ALOT less room. Separate the trash so it can be easily donated to the people there. Stuff they don't want, we pack out. There's not even dumpsters in town. So think about what you're taking.

WE ARE LEAVING NO TRACE. RESPECT THEIR HOME.

seriously guys you're going way overboard. remember we are trying to get a lot of people out there, so the less you bring the better. all you need is:

food
water
alcohol
sleeping gear
1 change of clothes
bike
sunscreen


you won't change your clothes on a daily basis while camping, and really work on limiting the things that you are bringing that will create trash. Even if it's burnable, we still have to deal with all the ash at the end of the trip, so be considerate. 80-100 peoples trash, recyclables and ash is a lot to deal with.

If you are bringing paint to donate to Leonard at Salvation Mountain make sure it is water based acrylic. Also plan on giving Leonard a little cash donation if you take a tour of Salvation Mountain. He's a really great guy and depends on our donations to keep that place going.

I just spoke to one of the locals out there that we met last year. He has requested that we don't bring glass if at all possible. This is a direct quote from him

"For three reasons I strongly encourage that you eschew glass containers if at all possible. Glass is heavy and a pain to recycle; glass occasionally breaks and broken glass is the absolute nastiest mess to clean up in the desert; beer in aluminum cans is said to improve potency in men and longevity in women. But if you just can't resist that 4-pack of Rasputin Stout, I understand. Just please be really careful with it."

Try to remember that when packing.

The thing I really hate when camping is over sized products, like those huge bottles of ketchup and mustard and other retarded shit like that.

There is no reason we need mass amounts of things out there. The key is to bring as little as possible so that we take home as little as possible.

When you buy something that comes in a container take it out of its package and throw it away before your get to camp.

Just make everything as simple as your possibly can.

Bring it back to the basics.

the thing to think about foremost when shopping is TRASH.

you have to bring all your own nasty, stinky, sticky, wet trash home with you. there will be no public dumpsters for you to use in the area. maybe in the palm springs area on the way home you can find a public dumpster behind a CVS but basically where we are there will be nothing. take bags out of boxes and boxes off of cup o noodles. etc.

i'm thinking the vets should get together and have a concise shopping list?

Another thing that we should skip on is huge melons. Unless you know for sure that you are going to be eating the whole thing.

Last year at Burning Man we had huge half eaten things of water melons covered in dust just sitting there for days. It was extremely bizarre looking.

Bring the biggest water bottles you can find. Something like the one gallon bottles. Refill you're bike bottle with this. DO NOT bring 100 dinky 12 ounce bottles.

Another that's nice about these gallon bottles, the people living out there may want theses after we leave.

EVERYONE plan on bringing home everything that you bring with you. That means all your food scraps, all your trash, all of your cigarette butts, etc... The campsite WILL look cleaner when we leave than it did when we came. If you can't handle spending some time that weekend picking up and sorting through garbage and recyclables and making sure our campsite is clean, don't bother coming with us. Everyone has to remember we are guests there. There are people that call this place home and we have to respect them.

Deodorant is optional.

I usually carry some in my hip-pack anyway, along with BenGay, Bandages, Purrell, and some Ibuprofen for crashes, lost-fights, counteract noxious fumes, etc.,

Bring what you NEED, water & food for the days you will be there. Plus warm clothing for night- it's fucking cold. and light clothing for the day, it's really wonderfully nice out during the day.

If you plan on supporting one of several community meals, please speak up.

I'm doing Bullhorn Brunch, Sunday Morning before Bombay Beach. I will need supplies and volunteers. Ms. Stephanie is heading the drinks (Mimosas & Bloody Marys.) I need someone to help with the bacon & eggs. I'm doing the potatoes.

Salton Sea trip deserves it's own group, like last year. It will look a hell of alot better as the years pass. Why did it have a separate google group last year? Why not use that one again, or establish a new one?

All this burningman group is for is to sucker people into going to BM. The Salton sea trip looks like an after thought or something. Can't the BM group stand on it's own?

Hi hi hi. This trip is going to be awesome amazing! Miss Sarah, I would love help with the bloody mary fixins. I'm going to mix up a GINORMONGOUS batch of amazingly awesome spicy and salty and horseradishy and wonderful mix before we leave, and transport it all in tupperware, or something.

I love the wonderful fun list put together by Coe Coe, Franz and Fuzzbeast, and I so don't want to be killjoy of any sort...

...BUT I just want to say that seeing things on the list like confetti and water balloons really troubles me. We are taking a burning man-like attitude to this trip, and any teeny tiny eensy weensy itty bitty piece of MATTER OUT OF PLACE (MOOP) - even one piece of confetti, or one shred of water balloon - left behind means we as a camp have FAILED. It will be really hard to clean up confetti and broken balloons, so I would strongly advise against anything like that.

We can have fun painting shaving dressing messing kissing licking wetting petting each other without stuff that will leave a mess behind. NO MOOP!
